Horrific Period Pains

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has had these symptoms before and what they are linked too, been off pill for over a year but last two months have been horrific, needed days off work etc and don’t think I can continue with it. I’m going to the doctors for further fertility investigations between now and my next period but wondering if I should be rushing to see them or wait to later in the cycle when I’m going anyway.

Period starts off very light, mainly brown discharge and no need for a tampon just a towel but period pain that can be controlled with paracetamol and ibroprofen.

Then normal period but pain is horrific, it’s like I’m being stabbed, I’m bent double with a hot water and even taken naproxen isn’t working. Also have diarreah and the first month was sick - last month thought it was a bug and af but can’t be that unlucky twice!

Period seems to then fade again with mainly just brown discharge but still lots of pain for the rest of the week!

Endometriosis seems to be a likely candidate but I would have expected pain at other times too? Anyone had anything similar?

My periods used to be like that. It was awful. Having been in labour, I can say that the pain was the exact same.

The mini pill worked for me.

Go to your GP but be prepared for them to tell you that that's normal.

Desperately TTC so no pill for me.

My periods have always been heavy and painful, I load up with paracetamol and then two hours later ibruprofen so I don’t have much time when I’m not covered by something but this seems far worse all of a sudden. Nothing else has changed, it’s been over a year since the pill and not even changed vitamins. My first thoughts were MC but still got bfn’s! 😩

Go to the doctor sounds like endometriosis but you could just be really unlucky and have horrific periods. Hope you get better asap!! The pill can mask endo and cysts (I've had a ruptured one worst pain I have EVER felt) xx
