2ww - desperate to POAS

user7654321 · 03/01/2018 18:03

So I’m 5 days into my 2WW. AF is due 12th Jan. even though I know it’s irrational I’m desperate to do a HPT. When is the earliest possible date it wouldn’t be a waste? Any tips on distraction techniques for the next week or so to keep my mind off wanting to POAS?

What's poas? My period is due 15th January won't think about testing until I'm late on my period xx

Running365 · 03/01/2018 18:56

Me too @user7654321 but AF due this weekend. It's so tempting to poas (pee on a stick) but I'm really trying not to give in as spent over £20 on frer last month (first month of ttc). What cycle are you, if you don't mind me asking? I naively thought it would just happen but now beginning to think that is unlikely to be true. Trying everything to distract myself from symptom spotting but can't say I've found any successful yet!

Here's the site you want:

www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/brands.php

Brownbear84 · 03/01/2018 21:17

What is that sight for? It's only first month ttc for us xx

physicskate · 03/01/2018 21:32

Tells you about test results by brand for each dpo. It only samples women who later went on to get positive tests. Over the past nearly two years I've spent WAY too much time on ttc crap.

Anonymbus · 03/01/2018 23:06

Oh, I've got the same stats as you!!! Desperate to test but no way will it end well if I did poas on or before the weekend. It's my birthday on Monday so my goal is a FRER in the morning. Of course, I've had mild to moderate twinges for three days now... symptom spotting at its best!
I really don't know how to distract myself as I'm still off work this week - guess it'll be a lot of housework for me...
Fingers crossed Smile

Im also due af on the 12th.
Getting loads of twinges, trying hard to keep my mind off things and not symptom spot but it’s very difficult!

user7654321 · 04/01/2018 08:22

Thanks everyone- it’s so hard isn’t it! This is actually our first ‘proper’ cycle of TTC but we’ve been less than careful for a few months now. I know the odds are against me but I’m really hoping now we’ve ‘set our minds to it’ it will happen quickly!

Physicskate - that link is really interesting. I love stats - thanks!

How’s everyone doing? Still holding out?
Lots of cramps here but that’s normal both when I’m pregnant and when I’m not!
I’ve been pregnant 10 times so I’m pretty good at this! (‘Only’ 5 dc though)
My last 2 pregnancies ended in mc, the last one was a year ago picked up at my 12 week scan. It’s taken me a year to decide to try again.

Brownbear84 · 06/01/2018 19:46

9 days to my period first month ttc just holding out if I don't come on I will test xx

user7654321 · 07/01/2018 15:29

I caved in and did a test on Friday (around 8dpo) - BFN, obviously. AF is due this Friday - don’t think I’ll be able to hold out until then without POAS again at least once!

Anonymbus · 07/01/2018 18:31

There's still a good time left to get a BFP! No need to give up any hope just yet. I did test mid day today just because my 3yo dd just came down with chickenpox today. I hope I'm immune in case i should be pg as my mum doesn't quite remember Confused. It's my birthday tomorrow and I now have to stay at home with dd and not sure whether to waste another test or not until a little later.

user7654321 · 08/01/2018 10:22

So i did another early response test this morning (approx 10DPO). There was a fairly faint but definite pink line, which disappeared / turned to a VERY faint grey after 10-15 mins. Confused. Will test again tomorrow!
