So I'm one of those people who can't keep their cool... If there's a hint of a new project, I'm on it like a car bonnet. I don't think I'll be able to mentally last a long TTC game, I'm ovulating today and I've done 4 IC ovulation tests today ffs!

I'm full of angst since I read the stats on getting pregnant in the first cycle being like 20% (...yaaaaaay) SO, I'm looking for some hand holding, reassurance, kindness and encouragement!!!

I know, deep down, it's not that simple, but I literally can't contemplate that right now! So can any of you cycle 1 conceivers please help and remind me it is possible! Or does happen!

I did, with both children. I was 26 and 30. I think we only did it about twice for #2! I was very lucky.
Do be mindful that your “enthusiasm” might cause performance anxiety for your partner and set the whole thing off on a stressful tangent - not a good way to get pregnant.

MisstoMrs · 02/01/2018 19:22

Instantly pregnant after our wedding - but we weren’t both pretty chilled out Smile

twobambinos · 02/01/2018 19:26

I was on the first baby.
Now ttc number 3 I'm hoping for the same again but who knows.

Best of luck

Kate8989 · 02/01/2018 19:27

Wow, I’d say for your own sanity just to calm down a little bit. I know there are many lucky people who get pregnant quickly, but even for a healthy couple actively trying to conceive it can take up to a year. The whole process for most people is a marathon not a sprint and for both you and your partners sake, I’d relax a taaaad more! X

ClaryFray · 02/01/2018 19:29

I fell pregnant after DTD twice with my first. It can happen.

Second is proving harder.

Baby dust for you.

Candyfloss1122 · 02/01/2018 19:32

Yep, first cycle with dC2 due in April, technically Dc1 was second cycle but we really weren't trying that hard...I'm pretty sure I was out of my fertile window, so it was pretty much first time with both.

Winterfellismyhome · 02/01/2018 19:35

Currently 14 weeks after getting pregnant on the first cycle. Good luck to you Smile

Brownbear84 · 02/01/2018 19:36

I'm with you! First was unplanned I was 18,second was planned I was 26 and conceived in first cycle and ttc3 now and it's first cycle. Ovulated on the 30th and dtd 29,30,31 and 1st xx

wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 19:38

Thanks all! Don't think the OH has performance anxiety, thankfully!, but we've agreed that we're not going to dtd until next cycle as we're a bit "over" it now haha!! I thought my FW was earlier than it actually has been, but the novelty of "right, pants off!" has worn off!!!! I'm just really hoping something comes of it... X

Conceived cycle 2 (cycle 3 off pill) after following SMEP ! Can be done !

Brownbear84 · 02/01/2018 19:41

Your desperate for a baby and it's your fertile time and you've decided not too dtd?? Doesn't make sense at all.

wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 19:42

Sorry brownbear, should have been more clear. We've got two more days of dtd and then we're not touching each other until next time haha!

OP posts:
wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 19:44

We've been dtd every 2-3 days since 15th Dec... Blush

You need to calm down Confused

ClareB83 · 02/01/2018 19:54

Currently 18 weeks with twins after conceiving first cycle! 😬

Thought we'd be trying for months and this was just practice!

ScottishJaggyNettle · 02/01/2018 20:02

We've got two more days of dtd and then we're not touching each other until next time haha! That is a very bad idea. (He/ you both) would be best to empty his youknowwhats every 3-5 days. Its not fresh healthy sperm if you leave it longer. DTD Is better every 2-3 days.

Please dont forget your Folic acid.
Ensure that your BMI is not above 30. (Apparently a better chance)
Cut down on caffine/ alcohol.
No smoking.
Take note of your cycle ( just incase).

Im three years in unfortunately.

wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 20:07

@Scottish

I'm just being flippant with the whole no touching :-)
I've been on Pregnacare vits for a few months, I've ordered some more Folic Acid too. Don't smoke, stopped drinking, and I'm working on the BMI!

OP posts:
Brownbear84 · 02/01/2018 20:12

Ohhh right, yer I've been taking folic acid and evening primrose oil since I came of the pill xx

ScottishJaggyNettle · 02/01/2018 20:44

You can get pregnacare his and hers that is good. It would be worth a look. The folic acid in pregnacare should be enough if your BMI is under 30. If its over 30 then i would perhaps ask your doctor to do a blood test for folic acid to see if you need any more.
Eat tones of broccoli and leafy green veggies. (Its full of folic acid.)
Oh and dont use lube unless it is sperm friendly. (Pre- Seed or Fertilecheck)
BMI is always a hard one to control. I wrote that whilst i had a face full of malteasers (HaHa I really shouldnt be but im treating myself after IVF).
Dont worry so much, If nothing happens after a year and your under 35 then see the doctor. If your over 35 then i wouldnt leave it more than 6 months.

xx

wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 21:01

I think I'm just really keen. I've been broody for ages but it hasn't been the right time to start trying. I'm 29, and I'm only just tipping over the 30 BMI mark I think, which I'm going to sort out by eating more of the good and less of the bad, rather than crash dieting or anything. I've been trying to get hubby to take his tablet too, as we have the his and hers, but he keeps forgetting.............. (yes I know).
I just am really looking forward to getting a little bubs and starting our family :-) and tomorrow I'm working so only the one test ;-)

ClareB83 · 02/01/2018 21:11

I'm bad at remembering my pill so I have them where I eat dinner every night so I can clearly see them. Maybe that would help your OH?

ScottishJaggyNettle · 02/01/2018 21:19

I have my fingers crossed for you all. Smile

Oysterbabe · 02/01/2018 21:21

Everyone wants to conceive quickly but it's down to pure luck. You need to chill out or you'll drive yourself nuts.

wifeymcwifeface1104 · 02/01/2018 21:43

@oysterbabe I'm already nuts hehe x

I got pregnant on first month of trying with both my babies (currently pregnant with one).

This was after having a previous ectopic pregnancy and fallopian tube removal. So I only had one tube functioning. I was obviously luck it was the correct month/side I was ovulating on.
