Thoughts on charting?

Hi all,
Only our second month ttc so I'm pretty new to this all. From reading all the threads it sounds as though most people are charting and using opks. So far we've just been trying to dtd every couple of days. Thoughts on whether charting etc is a good idea/necessary at this point? I'm thinking that hopefully if we dtd every day throughout the cycle that should give us a good shot? That said I have noticed I don't seem to have much ewcm so maybe I'm not ovulating? Good luck everyone - let's hope for lots of BFPs this month Flowers

As you're only on your second month is give it a few more fun months before getting so serious as to chart. It's boring and tedious.

I got pg my first month TTC just going on my ewcm! It ended in mc but still. 3 cycles later I'm now temping & using opk's just to make sure we're timing it right for my peace of mind

Think it depends on a few things, my GP years ago told me off for charting as he said it was stressful and I shouldn't fixate on it, but actually I would have found NOT charting more stressful! Also my other half and I have jobs where we're often away, so can't always just DTD as often as we'd like, so charting helps us know when to really focus on it!! Plus we're older so I don't feel like time is on our side! I think if you're starting out then doing what you're doing sounds great!

Thank you all for your input. I can see the benefits, especially if you've been trying for a while or you or your partner are often away with work. I'm conscious that I'm a bit older (31) so don't want to be too casual about it, but maybe I'll give it a couple of months before looking into charting as it does sound a bit stressful to me.

OP the only way we got pregnant (we had x3 mcs before this pregnancy so we got really good at it) was by charting and literally bombarding my body when I ovulated. Just having 'fun' sex didn't work for us at all. We needed to find the day I ovulated and then have sex every day around it.

But that was personal. I loved the control of charting, many don't. Also many friends did thefun thing and it worked fine for the . Maybe give it another few tries and then start around the 3 month mark?
