Is there any point in testing tomorrow with FRER?

Been TTC for 15 months and suffered two miscarriages last year. Tomorrow is DH's birthday. I will be 8dpo and AF is due on Sunday. Looked at the First Response pack and it says you can get results from 6 days before your missed period. Would it be crazy to test in the morning? It would be so amazing if I got a BFP to present it to DH as a birthday present, but do you think it's just too early and I'm setting myself up for disappointment?

I'm not sure if it's possible to get a positive at 8dpo. I think it's at least a week after conception that implantation happens then 3 or 4 more days for an early test to pick it up - so 9dpo at the super duper earliest.

I, however, have been a poas addict both times and would definitely have done it. I got both my positives way before my period was due with a frer. Make sure you haven't drunk too much so your fmu is nice and concentrated - but try and remember even if you are pregnant it is likely to still be negative this early.

Thanks Jenala! Do you think the instructions on the pack are just for women with longer cycles then? Mine is only 29 days so 10dpo is 3 days before my period.

Possibly. The accuracy of the test is dependent on how long it's been since conception occurred rather than how close it is to your period due, if that makes sense. However 29 days is a pretty normal length so you may get a happy surprise! I think the paper inside will say the accuracy. I think 6 days before af is due is the accuracy is 70ish% (so 70% of pregnant women will get a positive at this time but 30% won't yet) and it goes up with each day to 99+% on the day af is due. So a negative might not be a negative this early iyswim.

I got my first bfp on cd23 of a 28 day cycle first time round, so I guess about 9dpo. I'd tested earlier than that though. I got my second bfp on day 26 of a 34 day cycle - so technically 8 days early however I think I was ovulating around cd14 and just having a longer luteal phase, so I would have been around 12dpo. Both bfp tests were frers though.

Not very high numbers of (later) pregnant women testing that early, but looks like 55% negative at 8 dpo.

Hi I used first response at 8dpo this month and got my bfp! Pretty certain of ovulation date too. I actually strangely got a bfn in the morning and a faint bfp in the afternoon!

If you get a bfn though it's not to say your out of the game, as 8dpo is very very early and I think most don't get a bfp that early, I never have with previous pregnancies! Good luck and hope you get your bfp!

I only joined about 7 months ago, so don't think it would have been me last year, but I've been on miscarriage threads since joining so maybe from there?

You'll have to update us if you do a test. My sensible head tells you to wait another day or so, but even I don't listen to my own advice . I think once you hit around 7dpo the tww drags even more!

So I tested (of course I couldn't resist!) and got BFN . Going to wait until AF day now! I'll post again when I do!

With my first I got a clear bfn with fmu, didn't drink all day and got my clear bfp later on that day at 4pm. Just sayin'...
