Hi all.

I’m new to this, but wanted some opinions. Me and my OH have been together 10 years, married this year.
I’ve previously been on the pill, injection (been off that 2 plus years now) and both the copper and mirena coil most recently. I had to have these out due to discomfort and hormones not agreeing with me.
I’ve been off contraception now since June time, and we haven’t been actively ttc particularly yet, but have been a bit ‘if it happens it happens’ kind of thing.
I’ve been tracking my temps and using natural cycles, and also using OPKs but I’ve never had a proper positive on one of these. I do get CM but usually well before the app says I’m due to do an OPK. So I don’t really know when I ovulate.
Anyway. Last Friday night (22nd) we dtd and weren’t particularly careful about it (like at all!!) and this was CD14. Ever since, I’ve not been able to think about anything else except whether I might be pg. When can I do a test, do you think? AF due probably Saturday, usually 28-9day cycle.
Also for future, what’s the best way to pinpoint ov? I’ve not had much luck with amazon opks, and though temping seems to pick it up, the tests don’t so I’m confused.

Sort for the ramble.

Sorry for the ramble, that should say.

Oh well, did a FRER and of course it’s a BFN.

I’ve always been a bit ‘ I’ll have kids one day’ with that day never feeling like today, it’s always been an abstract concept.
I’m floored by how much I feel now like I want to start a family, after this couple of weeks wondering, having not been really considering it imminently before. 😔

You're not out until AF arrives... Flowers

Firstly I'd trust CM more than an app that tells you when to start using your OPKs. It sounds like you could have an unusually early ovulation timing?

Try doing OPKs for a whole month. If it seems like you are not getting any ovulation over a few months I'd go see my GP.

Thanks. I do sometimes get a line on the OPK but never anywhere near as dark as the control line. For a few months I thought it was building up but then it just disappears, so maybe it’s actually on the decline by the time I catch it and I’m not testing early enough?
Who knows. I need to start making notes on when I get the CM, it’s usually only for about 2 days. How long before ovulation does this happen? The app says I ovulate at CD17 but I’m not sure. I suppose it hasn’t had that much time to get to know my cycles yet.

Thanks!

I did this, done an opk twice a day roughly same time every day. I saw that after period it goes dark but not positive then lighter then it will go dark again for my ovulation. It helped to pinpoint the exact cycle day I ovulated during a cycle. I monitored my cycles after coming off pill (1st cycle: 31 days, second 28 days, then as this was my third cycle I roughly thought it was 28 days.) my opks conformed this with my pos opk coming back on cd 17. Done the deed 3 times around then and have conceived :)
I just found that sticking them down made it a lot easier to see a pattern. Goodluck to you x

Sounds to me like your actively trying, maybe you need to chill out on the opk and CM and temps etc and see if that works, iv seen it so many times with friends and myself, you can become obsessed about it, best thing to do is to relax and see what happens, like you said in your original statement, if it happens it happens :) good luck

Him
Thanks for this. I was originally using OPK and temping as a natural contraception, so I knew which days needed additional barrier method and which were relatively safe :-)
Only after an small indiscretion this month have we started to think about it properly and therefore I’m using the app to plan, rather than prevent as in the past.
