When is too late in cycle to conceive?

This is our 1st month of TTC. CD1 was 18th December and I have a regular 26 day cycle so next AF is due around 12th Jan (11 days time). Do you think it is likely that I have already ovulated? We have been away with friends for past two nights (shared sleeping) so no chance to DTD on 30th/31 Dec (CD13/14) Think we may have missed the critical time whilst we were away?!

Would anyone recommend OPKs (which I could do from next month), if I have a reliable 26 day cycle would I likely ovulate on CD14?

I have a 27 day cycle and it’s like clockwork. I’m ovulating today (day 12 of my cycle) and last month it was day 13. It’s never before day 11 or after day 14 for me (I use OTK testers to monitor it). It could be different for you if you have a longer or shorter luteal phase (the average is around 14 days long).
Do you get the cervical fluid that looks like stretchy egg whites? I always get it a day before, during and a day after I ovulate

Normal your ovulation day stays the same but your luteal phase can change which might mean some months you have a 26 days cycle, other months a 27 day etc.

I would always assume you're going to ovulate around day 14 and have sex for four days before then. Things like breast feeding can cause you to ovulate late I've found, so instead of Day 14 I was ovulating on day 16 with a short luteal phase.

Best thing to do is invest in some ovulation sticks and see if you can pin down what's happening and when. Then you can be more accurate in the timing of sex.

Thanks - I think I need to get some ovulation sticks and keep an eye on cervical fluid from next cycle. I’ve never really noticed before re consistency/timing.

First month of trying for us,stopped my pill and came on my first proper period on the 23rd November, got some ovulation sticks from home bargains and started them from day 9,ovulated day 13 the 30th. Due back on the 15th January so will wait and see xx

I have a 25 day cycle and assumed ovulated on day 12-14, but after trying and failing for a few months to get pregnant, I used the cheapie ovulation sticks and discovered I was ovulating on day 20. Late and different to how I was when getting pregnant the first two times.
