Clear blue digital reads 3+ weeks too early

Hey everyone!
So wondering if anyone had this before as it confused me a little.
I've done clear blue digital test on 19/12 and it shown not pregnant, although I was quite certain and redone it on 22/12 and it was 1-2 weeks pregrant. Today I've done the test again (a week later) to make sure hcg levels are rising, and test jumped to 3+ weeks.
Ovulation definately happened on 09/12 as I was doing tests for it. Now just not sure whether its a sign of a healthy pregnancy or what to make out of it. Had two miscarriages this year therefore every little thing is now questionable Hmm...
Anyone had it before?
Thank you!

Clear blue didn't show positive for me for over a week later. I wouldn't worry. Due to miscarriage history I think you'd be able to get beta hcg blood test done to put your mind at rest.

Monimoni · 30/12/2017 13:02

I might request a blood test to put my mind at ease, thank you. Interstingly I do know that I am 5weeks1day today therefore I would think 3+ still would be too early...

Probably just twins

PersianCatLady · 30/12/2017 13:05

A lot of people seem to have issues with these pregnancy tests and the weeks.

gamerchick · 30/12/2017 13:05

I really wish they would ban those tests.

They are not meant to be an exact science. They are a novelty item to use as a bit of fun. Except people want them to be exact and worry if they aren't.

Monimoni · 30/12/2017 14:42

I know I shouldn't rely on them too much but funny enough both of miscarriages I had were first identified by these tests, I remember doing them and weeks would stop rising and a few days later miscarriage would start. Saying that, praying on the fact that the hcg reading higher that supposed this time hopefully means just a healthy rise. Fingers crossed!

I agree they should ban them. They're not accurate and people throw so much cash away on them, buying loads so they can see the weeks indicator increase. They are the source of much anxiety if it doesn't increase as expected. All pregnancies are different, there is a huge range of normal for HCG levels. You are pregnant, stop testing and wait for your scan.

AurorasEncore · 30/12/2017 16:57

See your gp and he can refer you to early pregnancy unit who will do early scans and monitor you bloods. I'm currently being looked after at mine after early miscarriage so I know the anxiety your feeling at the moment. X

Each week category has a threshold that works with what is considered the average HCG for that week. 3+ weeks according to their website is HCG above 2,000miU/l I believe. It’s not very indicative because some people’s HCG just rises naturally fast. My friend at 5W2D was 1800 give or take and mine at 5W3D was 13,500. So even though we were both at the same time period, mine would’ve triggered 3+ weeks and hers only 2-3 weeks. It’s probably a good sign if it’s that high this early.

I had the same on my last pregnancy, turned out it was twins and that caused higher hcg levels, best of luck

Twins sounds a little daunting I must say! Haha. I had a look at hcg levels chart abd there is a lot of overlapping, so I guess we just have to wait abd see what's ahead of me, got a feeling of things going well this time! Fingers crossed!

Hi @Monimoni I just wanna say thanks for coming back to this. Last Monday on SMU I had 1-2 weeks. Today I've had 3+ although I'm only 4+6 and ovulated less than three weeks ago so paranoid that it could be ectopic or something (had a MMC and chemical already this year, feel like I'm collecting cards) having a slight worry although I know they're not exact.
@anxiousmotherof1 any chance you're turned out okay, if you don't mind me asking?

Hello, I’m same as you with 4+6 today and Getting 3+. Did everything go ok?

User43210 · 21/03/2024 12:22

I'm feeding the little monster his lunch whilst he sits on the sofa right now. He can feed himself, he's just being precious 😂 I've had two now, so all was ok in the end.

Good luck 🤞
