Hi All,

Happy New Year! Fingers crossed 2018 brings plenty baby dust xx

Booksandstuff · 02/01/2018 19:31

Happy new year all! Hoping for plenty of BFPs for us in 2018. DH and I have been away and sharing a room with family members so ttc has been impossible during my fertile window. Next month though!

Betsyboo87 · 04/01/2018 19:05

Happy New Year all!

My 2018 has started with af arriving 4 days early. I was prepared for her arrival as we decided not to ttc in December but 4 days early? Really?! I’m usually like clockwork so no idea what’s happened.

2018 is also the start/continuation of testing for us. We’re so over ttc after 13 cycles and I’m 33 so I’m starting to feel the clock. We live abroad and self refer so I’ve done loads of research but I can’t bring myself to pick up the phone and make an appointment yet. It’s crazy as a couple of weeks ago I was itching to do it but now I feel scared. Whilst it feels like we’ll be making progress, I also feel it’s going to be the start of an even bigger emotional rollercoaster. It doesn’t help that my foreign language skills are rubbish and I struggle to communicate over the phone. I usually get someone at work to help but I can’t really with this one!

StickThatInYourPipe · 04/01/2018 21:04

Hey lovelies can I join? Been ttc for over a year now Sad currently 8 days late, I haven’t tested as an waiting until Sunday. Good luck everyone! Here’s to a positive 2018!

Booksandstuff · 05/01/2018 01:05

Welcome stick. Good self-control on not testing. Fingers crossed for you.

Betsy, I live aboard too - makes it so much harder. Our health insurance doesn't cover IVF and it's a 3-year wait on the public system here...going private isn't really an option as it's too expensive. So we will probably need to move back to the UK to start the ball rolling. Totally understandable to be scared.

Betsyboo87 · 07/01/2018 10:51

Books it is so hard - I feel I know where I am with the nhs but this is overwhelming. IVF isn’t covered on ours either. Moving back to the UK isn’t an option for us as we’re tied to a contract that would cost a lot more to break. Hopefully we won’t get to the point of needing IVF but we do need to plan ahead in case that is our only option. Right I need to man up and make an appointment tomorrow!

Booksandstuff · 09/01/2018 04:32

Hope it's gone well, Betsy. Did you get an appointment booked?

Feeling bit down at the mo. Might be post-Christmas blues. Am trying hard not to symptom spot, get myself in to a googling frenzy and then become convinced that this is my month. I'm 95% sure af is on its way, but I've unusually got quite a few spots so am holding on to that 5%Grin

LookingAtTheStars89 · 27/02/2018 00:47

@Colabottles64. I don't know if you still check the thread but I followed your courageous story on the 10+ months thread - how are you getting on? x

Colabottles64 · 27/02/2018 06:49

@lookingatthestars89 hello! I’m 13 weeks today and happy to report all is going well - 12 week scan last week and baby was waving and kicking and looking so chilled out Smile Still have to pinch myself most days, can’t believe it happened but am so happy it did!

How are you getting on? Would love to hear your story xxx

And hope all are doing ok? Think of you ladies very often and hope you all get your bfps and babies very soon @soozc @sunshineandsea @mimilicious013
@booksandstuff @tryingtostayrational @betseyboo87 @chlo22
And @bertiebotts hope your pregnancy is going well xxx

sunshineandsea · 28/02/2018 09:22

Hi cola really glad everything is going well for you!

I am still here, more lurking these days though and I think of all of you often too.

We are nearly at the 2 year mark now and things have gone from bad to worse for us! I was on clomid for 4 months, really suffered with the side effects and although it made me ovulate at the right time no pregnancy.

Then a month ago I ended up in A&E with severe abdo pain, which turned out to be a massive ovarian cyst (maybe caused by the clomid) and severe infection. I had to have major surgery to remove the cyst, an ovary and a tube. It was all pretty traumatic and of course means TTC is on hold for a while whilst I recover.

We are being referred to start IVF in a few months, so trying to focus on getting my mind and body in the right place for it. I'm so scared it won't work or will unearth more problems. I just seem to be on the wrong side of the statistics every step of the way!

Hope the rest of you are having better luck than me xxx

HidCat · 28/02/2018 11:09

@sunshineandsea hope your recovery is quick and the IVF works for you. So sorry you're going through all this.

Colabottles64 · 28/02/2018 13:18

Oh @sunshineandsea that sounds so scary and tough, I hope you’re recovering well physically and coping emotionally. You have been through the ringer!!
All the best to you as you prep for ivf and take a bit of time out. I don’t know if it’s something you’ve tried out and I know everyone finds what works for them, but I did find accupuncture helped me with relaxing and coping with all my overwhelming emotions and I’ve had two lots of counselling over the last two years too that helped me to get through. Hope you find the things that help, and that your other half is dealing ok too xxx

Mimilicious013 · 07/03/2018 08:12

sorry you are going through a rough time @sunshineandsea.hope you are feeling better now and ivf works quickly for you.

oh my @colabottles64 , time does fly. hope you are enjoying every day of your pregnancy .super excited for you. a bump pic for us soon . take care of yourself .

sadly for me, I have stopped ttc. it was driving me mad. this would be cycle 30 eeeish.

Booksandstuff · 21/03/2018 08:52

Hi @Cola, so pleased to hear everything is going well!

Oh @sunshine, I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you're feeling much better now. Good that you have the IVF booked in. When do you start?

@Mimi - sending you good wishes.

I've now had all the tests (all results fine), including scans during my February cycle to see how the follicles were developing. Based on what my gynae said, my period came too early. But it was a weird one that month. Old blood and no pain. That has never happened, so who knows... Then at the end of Feb I got quite sick and have been off work for four weeks now. I'm almost back to normal, but it has meant TTC is on hold.

The gynae has said I should go back to see her in August for the next step - IUI - it'll be 22 months for us then. Being sick has been a distraction for me and I'm looking forward to just going back to work and being normal for a bit. and being able to have a drink!

Hope everyone else is doing well. xxx

LookingAtTheStars89 · 21/03/2018 09:34

@Colabottles64 Hi :-) I hope you're still well. You must be coming up for 16 weeks?

Still no bfp for me yet.

I'm 28 my DH is 37. I am ttc no.4 (No. 2 with DH) and have been ttc for a year now. I had a mc in September. Since I last spoke to you I have been diagnosed with PCOS (confirmed by a scan) and DH and been told he has a morphology of 3%! We were floored to be honest, seeing as we have DD conceived once after that. His GP said to keep trying for another year and then if no bfp then look into IVF with ICSI.

I've started to cut out sugar and I'm working on losing weight to see if that will help things on my side as there's a question mark over whether I'm actually ovulating or not (last two day 21 tests were 17 and

Betsyboo87 · 21/03/2018 21:56

Hi everyone, it’s good to hear from you all. I haven’t logged in for quite awhile.

Sunshine and books I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time. I hope you’re recovering ok.

Cola it’s lovely to hear that your pregnancy is progressing so well. This gives m me hope!

I’ve had some more tests, I have low progesterone which could be why I spot for a week before af every month. I’m on my first month of progesterone tablets so see if they have any effect. Slightly annoyed that my previous gynae refused to do blood tests a year ago as we could have detected this then but I guess there’s no point dwelling on it.

Colabottles64 · 21/03/2018 22:57

Ladies so good to hear from you xxx

@mimilicious013 - all the best to you. Sometimes stopping or taking time out is just necessary. Emotionally it’s so draining, you look after yourself and I hope you feel better for it xxx

@booksandstuff did you get that awful flu? I know a few people who got totally floored by it, hope you feel back to full strength soon. And enjoy that drink when you get it :)

@lookingatthestars89 do you track bbt? Its a bit of a palaver but it might be useful for a month or two to work out if you ovulated. I found I always timed the bloods wrong but maybe that’s just me :) good luck with the sugar cut xxx

@betsyboo87 good luck with the progesterone. It’s a bit exciting in a way when they recommend something and there is a bit of new hope - fingers crossed this gets you over the line! X

@sunshineandsea hope you are well too and feeling better xxx
