Irregular periods after stopping pill

Hi this is my first post!
Forgive me if this is in the wrong category.
I stopped taking my pill in july so 6 months ago. My periods returned but for the last 2 months i have had light bleeding for 2-3 days on a weekly basis and my periods are very irregular. I dont get cramps or any symptoms at all. Before the pill i was always regular and knew when my period was due but now i cant predict it. Is this normal after 6 months or is the bleeding more likely to be related to something else?? I was under the impression that it takes a couple of months for your cycle to settle but for this long? Has anyone else had this?
Thanks in advance

It can take up to 12 months for your periods to settle down. Like you, I could pinpoint the exact day my period would start and it was the same when I came off contraception and then on month 10 of ttc, my cycles suddenly started being irregular. They were like that for three months but I think they might be going back to normal now. No explanation really. Your body does weird stuff all the time (as I’m sure you’ve noticed while ttc!) and messing your cycles up is just one of them. It could be to do with coming off the pill, it could be you’ve ovulated later than usual or not ovulated at all. There’s a number of things that can cause a change in cycles but most of them are absolutely nothing to worry about :)

I’m going through a similar experience. I came off the pill in Sept, had a full on 5 day period. Then my last “period” was more brown discharge with the odd day of red blood. Fast forward to a week and I’ve had a couple of days of fresh red blood again. So my body really is saying “I’m reallly not sure what I should be doing right now”?!?!Confused lol.
I’m desperate to start a fresh trying to conceive but it’s hard with these odd days of bleeding.

I’m also going through a similar experience. Since coming off the pill in July my cycles have ranged between 29-36 days. It makes things very confusing!!

I'm going through the same...7 months after stopping the pill and I've only had 4 periods and currently on day 65 of this current cycle Confused wonderful!

Really wish it would settle down so we can start TTC a bit more accurately!

Wondering when mine will come back too and worrying as I don’t have time to waste being 40!

Anyone taking any supplements? I’m taking A.castus and Starflower oil. Wondering how much longer to take them for, as I have no clue if they’re doing any good or not x

It's reassuring to know that it's not just me then. Eugh I guess it just takes longer than I thought to settle down. I'm not even sure I've had a proper period the last couple of months. Right now I have been bleeding since Sunday night so maybe this is a period, but it's very light. Not even enough to wear a pad, just a liner. I have no idea what's going on in there lol
Are supplements recommended? I am only taking folic acid.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Been on the pill since I was 18 (now 38) and came off it end of sept just to give us the oppo to conceive (what will be will be)...had usual withdrawal bleed but then took 35 days for AF (even poas as my tracker showing as late..obv negative) next cycle just 21 days...and AF has just kicked in again today-just 15 days after the end of my last one! Seriously hoping it settles ASAP. The cramps are bloody evil!!!

I’ve just come across this thread whilst looking for some answers myself. I seem to be going through everything being discussed above. With this thread being from 2017, can anyone share any updates on your situations now? Have your periods gone back to normal? How long did this take? Which supplements (if any) did you take? I am now a year in of irregular periods and the doctors have no answers. It’s so frustrating. Thanks

I have literally been googling this for the past week, I’m the same I came off the pill at the end off February this year and I’m still not pregnant yet. My cycles are different every month so it’s hard to know when I’m ovulating I’ve been using and app called flo to track my periods and ovulation and it says my cycles are abnormal there isn’t an option on this app to see if that’s the case and not just because you have come off the pill. I was on the combined pill since being 15 and I’m 26 now so I’ve been on it about 9 years I can’t really remember my periods before apart from I did have one every month but mine was never the lower side off the cycle I was probably always like a 30 day cycle and had painful periods since coming off the pill my periods are normal in regards to the heaviness and how long I have my period which is usually for around 3 days but my cyles have been 35,36,39,30,33,38 my lates cycle was 30 days as I just started my period yesterday. How much are your periods differing? I’ve started taking folic acid that’s all I take but I’ve read online it can take 12 months for your periods too sort themselves out then they should start being more regular it just depends can take some people longer when they come off the pill. I think it’s probably easier to get pregnant when your still taking the pill then stop I think your more fertile then but then after that your body doesn’t know what’s happening so seems to take longer to get pregnant as your ovulation won’t be the same every month if you have irregular cycles. I’m about to start using ovulation sticks
