TTC Advice needed

So AF arrived yesterday :( think I need some advice going forward.

Basically I’ve only been TTC for 3 months but I just wanted to ask when is the ‘best’ time to BD?

I’ve been using the Clue Blue Ovulation test and So far we’ve been BD when I have the still smiley face and usually 2/3 days after. Am I leaving it too late? I’ve heard people talk of a fertile week and feel that I’m missing out a few days? Sorry if this sounds silly it’s just going forward I want to make sure we’re BD on peak times

You need to be having sex a few days before you get a solid smiley face, the day of and the day after if possible. Once you get your peak, you ovulate around 24 hours later so having sex 2/3 days is too late. Once you get a peak, don’t keep testing as it’s only the first positive that counts. Good luck

I assume when you get the smiley face (solid, not flashing) it’s the same as getting a positive line on an opk strip. Once you get a positive (or a solid smiley) your LH surge has started and once your LH surge starts, you tend to ovulate around 24 hours after that. So if you ovulate 24 hours later then you will ovulate the day after seeing your first smiley face, so having sex 3 days after your first smiley face is too late as you’ve already ovulated and the egg only survives around 12-24 hours. If you track when your FW starts and dtd a few days before you expect to ovulate and then the day of positive opk and day of ovulation. The day after might be okay depending how long your egg survives for. Sperm can survive for up to 5 days in the Fallopian tubes so you’re best dtd before you ovulate. Not sure if that makes more sense?

I found the best thing was to start banging at it every other day when I got the flashy smiley and then every day for 3 days starting first day of solid smiley. This is roughly the SMEP method and makes sure you maximise sperm meeting egg!

Well today’s the second day of flashing smiley . Going to try to BD everyday now and try more than once a day when solid smiley face appears. And then rest! Haha
