Hi ladies, new on this forum again after having DS 2 years ago. Just started trying to track ovulation as periods still vary slightly in length 28-31 days roughly.

I have read theories that in order to conceive a girl you should BD a few days prior to ovulation. In an ideal world it would be amazing to have a girl next but I would of course be more than happy with a boy too. We BD yesterday and I think I am ovulating today ( Going by mucus drying up and twinges which I assume are ovulation pains?)

Questions are 1 - how do I know when I'm actually ovulating as in I know ewcm is the most fertile - but when do I actually ovulate?

Question 2 - does the BD only a few days before ovulation work for any of your girls ? Worried that weve done that many times in the past when not ttc and obviously haven't fallen pregnant? Does that not limit your chances greatly?

Thanks all x

I found downloading a cycle tracker plus using opks helped build a picture of when I was ovulating.

There is no faultless method of being able to conceive a boy or a girl. As someone on the long term TTC journey I really wouldn’t limit myself to only dtd a couple of days before OV because you can’t pinpoint ovulation exactly. Temping, opk’s etc will give you an idea of when you’re likely to ovulate but not the exact day.
