Delay between positive opk and temp rise

Hi all.

I have a question I hope someone might know the answer to. What does it mean when there is always a few days delay between positive O and temp rise? This has happened for the past two months (my only minths temping properly)... last month it was a 4 day delay and this month it was a 3 day delay. Shouldn't I have my temp spike sooner?
This month my clearblue static smiley was on CD15 but my temp rise was this morn (CD18). When did I probably ovulate? I dtd every day between cd15 and cd18 so it probably doesn't matter in that sense... but I'd love to know a) why my body is apparently odd, and b) when I ovulate for future months.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Generally ov is 12-48 hours after a positive opk. So cd15 positive could easily mean ov was cd 17 sometime after you took morning temp (or even around the same time) and then rise is cd 18.

Thanks! So confusing! And now I woke up this morning with a temp plummet! Back down to 35.88 which is low for me post ovulation! What's going on? I redid my temp immediately and got 36.16 so is it a thermometer malfunction or should I he worried? I suspect I have hypothyroidism (got blood tests booked for a fortnight) so could it be tied in with that?? Temping last month was fine though... :(

Individual temps mean nothing. It's the pattern you're looking for. Stop overanalysing this. 3 days of temps above coverline is enough to 'confirm' ov. Everything else is meaningless.

Thanks - since my post I have discovered that 'fallback temperatures on 2dpo are common so that's probably the case here. :) and yes I agree individual temps mean nothing... but looking at my overall chart it's unusual for me to drop back down below my coverline post ov! Hoping for a rise again tomorrow though...

My temperature last cycle took about 4 days to rise and my post ov temps look like a range of mountains. I’m now 6+2 so it’s probably nothing to worry about.
