So this is will be our first month of TTC. I have worked out that I will be fertile the period between Christmas and New Year. Have been invited to a lot of social gatherings which will involve alcohol and I would usually always drink moderately. Would it be ok to just cut back a bit bit still have a couple of drinks? At what point would you stop drinking altogether - after positive test? I don’t want anyone to realise we’re TTC in case it takes a while.

DS1 was unplanned and I was 5-6 weeks pregnant when I realised, and had drank a fair bit in those first weeks - it worried me throughout the pregnancy so I don’t want to feel the same again this time round. But I also don’t want to stop enjoying my life because it could take months to conceive!

Until implantation the embryo is completely separated from your blood stream, so alcohol can not pass to the embryo. Whilst the placenta develops the baby has a yolk sac, again separated from you.
I think moderate drinking from ovulation to BFP is entirely fine.

Got to mirror above poster. Nothing wrong with having a few drinks whilst ttc. It an end up being a very long journey and I wouldn’t have survived the last 13 months without alcohol lol drink til it’s pink!

I second drink til it's pink. Alcohol has been helpful at times (and not helpful at other times) over the last 20 months. I hope you don't have long to wait, but the odds are only about max 20% this is your month... no point letting this 'journey' rule your life.

I would enjoy yourself and try not to worry about it. I've been pregnant three times (though one ended in mc). The pregnancy I mc was the only one I didn't really drink much around conception or in tww. The other two times we were on holiday and I drank like a fish! Literally every single day for a week or two at a time before. The most recent time, I even tested at 10 dpo, got a negative, felt depressed (just had the mc the month before) and had a really heavy weekend as we had family staying with us we hadn't see in awhile. I got a bfp the following week at 16 dpo. I've had an easy healthy pregnancy. I think be mindful and don't get falling down drunk every day or do loads of drugs, but a few glasses of wine a day won't do any harm.
