How often are we doing the BD...?

Hi all

I'm TTC at the moment and was just wondering how many times the average MN user is Dtd in their fertile days up to ovulation..? We only did it 5 times this month and I genuinely have no idea if that's the norm or less than the norm or what!

Hiya I think everyone is different. I used to be about 4 times a month however realised that it wasn't enough as been ttc for a year....so I've started following the some meets egg plan as best as possible which means a few extra bd so no big deal. Hubby is happy anyway! Good luck xx

Oh forgot to add obviously it only takes one go but that timing has to be perfect and you both need to be super fertile

We were going for twice a week or once a week if busy. Tbis was when we had devided we were going to stop preventing and see what happens.

When it became clear that that wasn't going to happen, we did every other day up until ovulation and then back to our normal.after.

Over a year later we're still trying.

We tended to do every other day from cd 6/7 through to cd 18. It took us ages to conceive our dd and we tried all manner of different frequencies which led me to conclude it's pretty random! In the end we went for what worked best for us and what didn't kill the pair of us - that was every other day between those days of my cycle. Good luck

We focused on the few days leading up to ov (based on cycle day and cm) and then a couple of days afterwards, which worked for us.

I think we were usually about twice a week before we were ttc. Dtd every 3/4 days but often more over the weekend but since ttc have been trying to go with eod from about cd 10-20 although i've just found out i don't actually ov until about cd 19 so think i'm going to wait until about cd 14 next time before we ramp it up a bit

We have been ttc number 2 for 18 months and have generally been dtd every other day from cd7 to 18.

I was looking back on my app and it appears that we only dtd twice the month we conceived DS, 4 years ago.

So this month I’ve been a bit more relaxed, we have only done it 3 tines this cycle, once every 3 days, and may do it once more but that’s it. We have already decided that this is the last month then we are going to stop. One reason being we never ever have sex just because any more. It’s only ever ttc sex, and if I never had sex again I don’t feel that I would care.

So I guess if I had any advice it would be just to be natural and enjoy it, don’t make it a military procedure, otherwise you will soon get bored and resentful.

We’ve just done CD12, CD13, CD15, and CD17 think I ov’d yesterday which was CD18. We try and aim for eod between CD10-CD20.

I used to use Boots Persona. Not sure if it still exists, but it displayed a symbol when you got the surge of (luteinising?) hormone prior to ovulation. We'd then try to BD that evening and 36 hours later if poss. Those were the ones relevant to conception. Rest of the month was just if we felt like it. That worked for us. (Had 3 mcs then two kids.)

@Eminybob. I agree. We had a conversation about it. We started trying in May and we dtd eod and got pregnant within a month. At the end of August we lost the baby and from early October we started to dtd eod again but a few days ago I told dh that as much as I wanted a baby I could keep up the mechanical sex. I realised that we were literally dtd and had even stopped kidding during it.
It really upset me and I decided enough was enough. I'm on cd 4 now and usually I'd be planning on dtd today but we decided to leave it until cd11 this month.

MrsDx i would say 5 times over your fertile week should definitely be enough. Do you know when you actually ov?

@Merrz I ovulated 15th and we dtd on 10th 11th 13th 14th and 15th but had a row Saturday so he slept in the spare room 😂...I was a bit worried I'd missed a vital day there..x

Haha, no i think you are well covered! You dtd lots in the days leading up to ov and ov day and that's most important.

@Merrz well I guess now it's just waiting and seeing..getting married one week tomorrow so I don't think one person really can be that lucky to have all of these things at once. Must remain calm and enjoy it no matter what happens! Thank you for responding x

Oh Wow, congratulations, hope you have a lovely day! Yes don't let ttc stress you out before you're wedding and just think if it's bfn this cycle at least you can drink and eat what you like at your wedding without worrying. Good luck!
