Most painful cramps I've ever experienced and very little blood.

Last night I experienced a tiny bit of spotting and the worst cramps I've ever had. They were so bad they woke me up and did not go away after taking ibuprofen and I struggled to sleep. I usually get mild cramps but nothing like this. I woke up this morning and the cramps had gone so I was expecting a monumental period today with me being due on today anyway. But I had nothing but a few drops of bright red blood in the morning. And just a little brown blood on a tampon (used a tampon as I expected niagra falls style bleeding). I've had no cramping since and no more blood.

I can't work out what the problem is. My last period was normal, although had very painful nipples and boobs this month. But the only time I had sex this month was on Friday (3 days ago). So pretty damned sure I'm not pregnant because I don't think it works like that haha.

Has anyone been in this position before and is it worth going to the doctors about? Thanks all xx

I would give it a couple of days. It could just be that you ovulated late and your period is going to show up in a day or so. I wouldn’t worry about going to the doctors unless you are in really extreme pain
