Pre natal vitamins

Anyone bothering with any special vitamins (apart from the obvious folic acid)?

I've been taking seven seas conception and an extra dose of folic acid. I know I should probably just start taking pregnacare but they're far too big and I hate the taste of them!

I'm taking the extra dose of folic acid as per my midwife in my previous pregnancy who said due to me being overweight I needed extra. Also taking it with orange juice to help with iron absorption Smile

I take Pregnacare conception tablets and break them in half every night to swallow easier. I try to put them in so that my tip of my tongue doesn’t touch the inner part of the half tablet lol

I was taking the Pregnacare but onto cycle 6 of ttc and was becoming a bit expensive and always seemed to be running out of them so now on Morrisons own brand folic acid and also Vitamin D and Calcium tablets. I'm trying hard to improve my diet, plenty fruit/veg, lentils etc so hoping that might help increase the Vits

@Merrz my diet is pretty pitiful atm, I ate a lot of lentils when I conceived my daughter (was on a new year health kick and had home made lentil soup every day) so I'm considering making a batch this week for my fertile week 😂

@Gem173 they are quite big aren't they! The pregnancy ones used to make me be sick when I was pregnant, I could just taste the iron in them! The seven seas pre conception ones are tiny and in a wee bubble pack marked with the days of the week, they look like the pill haha!

Folic acid and vitamin D are all that's recommended, I think - no need for expensive vitamin tablets unless you want to take them. I've been taking tesco's own conception/pregnancy/breastfeeding ones for a while because I figure extra vitamins are unlikely to do me any harm!

DailyMaileatmyshit · 12/12/2017 19:43

No. I only took folic acid.

LoveTheBear85 · 12/12/2017 20:14

I am only taking folic acid (overweight too so taking more) and B vits when I remember. I didn't realise about vit D so probably should pick some of that up.

Pregnacare for me :)
only on cycle 1 so might eventually set up subscription on Amazon so they come automatically when I run out.
I like taking these in general for my hair, skin and nails etc.

The IntrovertedMum I'm on the homemade lentil soup as per your advice lol fx

TheIntrovertedMum · 13/12/2017 20:13

@Merrz yesss GrinGrin we will see if it works! I'm on it too!
