TTC in Feb. Came off the pill in July. Only had 2 periods since. Fertility problems?

My husband and I want to start TTC in Feb. We have a ski trip booked towards the end Feb, so don't want to begin trying before then.

I came off the pill in July, as I'd been on it for a decade and wanted to give my body a chance to 'be normal again'.

I had a withdrawal bleed, then nothing until September. I wasn't marking the dates of my periods, as my doctor assured me that it could take a few months for my cycle to return to normal, but knew that my periods weren't 'monthly'.
I decided to download the Flo app when I got my last period, as I just had no idea when to expect my period (years of using my pill packs to know when!), and am now 10 days late, according to the app.

Basically, my periods are really irregular. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is this an indicator that we might find it difficult to conceive?

I know it's silly to worry before we've even started trying. I'm really looking for some real life experiences to relate to.

It’s completely normal to have irregular periods after coming off the pill. Your body has to readjust after getting used to artificial hormones. It can take up to a year for them to go back to normal unfortunately. The only thing you can do is just see how it goes. You can always mention it to your gp but it’s unlikely they’ll help you until you’ve been actively ttc for a year.

I came off the patch and had a withdrawal bleed as usual, then had a 52 day cycle before having a 'real' period. I'm now on day 16 of this cycle so waiting to see what happens.

@PickettBowtruckles
Fingers crossed that your next period is more prompt!

I know. My GP only does phone appointments and I've never met her, so don't feel an automatic draw to go to the doctor at the moment. I'll wait and see!

I'm kind of preparing myself that until my periods are normal, we won't be able to get pregnant. Part of me almost wants to start trying now, because of that!
