Hi everyone
My DH and I have been trying for a few months, after sadly having a miscarriage at the beginning of August.
My dilemma is, I have just finished my fertile week and my next period should be due around 22 December. I really don’t want to get my period around this time, as we will be at an event on Christmas Eve that having my period would affect. I do have some microgynon in the house from when I was on the pill earlier this year, so could in theory start taking these, just for a bit to delay my period coming over the Christmas week and ruining this event on the 24th. Of course if I’m pregnant I won’t need to do this and will be over the moon!
I guess my question is what would you do?!
I’m currently thinking if I take a first response early results on the 19th that should in theory show whether I’m pregnant by then? If it is a BFN I could then start taking the microgynon to delay the period...
BUT what if I just got BFN and then would have got a BFP later? Would the microgynon hurt the pregnancy?
And then if I am not pregnant then the microgynon will throw my cycle out of whack which will annoy me going forward...
ugh. I’m going to have to just deal with having my period over the event and Christmas aren’t I?!
Can anyone think of another way? :(

The pill won't hurt a pregnancy.

But taking it for a few days is no guarantee it will do what you want it to do...

I personally wouldn't risk affecting my cycle, especially as you don't know if your body will respond how you want it to. Lots of women have their periods over Christmas - I know it's annoying and inconvenient but will it ruin the event you're going to or just be irritating?

Sorry for late replies I was out at a show. Well it’s a spa day so it will affect it quite a lot since I can’t / don’t use tampons so I basically wouldn’t be able to use the pool / hot tub etc. I don’t want to do anything to mess up my cycle though as it’s steadied out and is regular again now after being out of whack after my miscarriage. I think I’ll just have to accept I won’t be able to do the spa!
