@cariad sorry for your bfn as well 😭 I’m bone weary of TTC tonight and could happily leave it behind and just have one child. I do wonder if there is much point carrying on soon, surely anything greater than a 3 year gap will just mean they aren’t that close? I’m having a pity party for one tonight. I’ve caught DD’s cold so feeling extra rubbish as well.

muffyduffster · 22/12/2017 22:39

Ahh June, there are five school years between me and my sister and we've been best mates since 17/22. Not so much before then Wink but I used to love having a baby sister, and now my daughter reminds me of her!

Paranormalbouquet · 22/12/2017 22:57

Cariad I’m sorry to hear about your BFN. Hope you are having some wine and nice Xmas food. June I’ve wondered that several times- DD is almost 4 now so obviously will be a big gap with any siblings. But saying that my father is 12 years older than his youngest sibling and they are very close now.

I’m still not confident, feel that my lines should be getting darker but are essentially same as yesterday. Trying to keep distracted though!

MonaTheMoaner · 22/12/2017 23:32

Hopping on.

CD 23
Age 29
Cycle #5

Due AF the day after Boxing Day so I’m hoping for a Christmas miracle. I’ll be testing on Thursday if AF doesn’t arrive.

No discernible symptoms. I’m not holding out a lot of hope after a chemical pregnancy two cycles ago where I got a positive and two days later AF but trying to stay positive.

Cariad2017 · 22/12/2017 23:43

Sorry you’re feeling so rubbish tonight Mynameis. TTC has totally ruined my 2017 - 14 cycles of hope followed by crushing despair whilst all around me literally everyone I knew IRL got upduffed and (in most cases) have now had their baby has been really really tough. So I can totally see the attraction of hanging up my ttc shoes for good.

I think I’ve made my peace with a bigger gap. DH is 5.5 years younger than his nearest sibling and they all get on very well as adults. One of my uni friends has just had her third with a 4 year gap between DC2 and DC3 (as opposed to the 2.5 years she had between her first two), and she has reassured me greatly that she’s enjoying the newborn days so much more this time around than the madness of two close together, plus her other DCs have been old enough to be genuinely excited by their new sibling as opposed to feeling usurped by him.

CoconutGal · 23/12/2017 06:33

AF is due on the 27th. I haven't been symptom spotting, in fact I've been pretty shit this month with the whole thing. However I have noticed how sore my boobs are this morning. That's about it really. Previous months I've had nausea, this month I don't. No bloating this month either like I usually have. I have to admit when I fell pregnant with DD (11yrs ago), I had no symptoms at all. So it's difficult for me to figure out what's normal & what isn't.

Anyone else seeing some symptoms they don't usually have?

Kit1411 · 23/12/2017 08:10

Hi, I was exhausted yesterday, went to sleep at 9 and woke at 7.30am! I had a very vivid dream last night (then woke for a wee) then another vivid dream I had a positive test. Woke up and checked my boobs to see if I had any more veins and my nipples are bigger with blue veins on. My guns are also bleeding more, so going to test tomorrow at 11 dpo.

Kit1411 · 23/12/2017 08:10

*gums not guns

Paranormalbouquet · 23/12/2017 08:29

Welcome Mona. I admire your restraint! I don’t usually test early but obviously have this month and am stressing about it now!

Cariad you’ve had a tough year. Am I right in thinking this is unexplained?

Coconut this is the third time I’ve conceived. Both previous times I had no symptoms; this time I’ve had my usual PMS symptoms, been peeing non-stop and have had low level nausea (which I suspect is psychological as my hcg must still be very low).

Kit I’ll keep fingers crossed.

June I don’t think there’s anything wrong with accepting only one child but I wouldn’t make the decision now when you are upset. And I would echo what Cariad said about age gaps- there’s pros and cons to every gap I think.

As for me I had a clear positive on first response this morning but a less reassuring shadow of a line on a boots own brand (not early test). Same urine- just wanted to compare them! I have decided for my own sanity to put the tests away. I need to accept my high miscarriage risk and deal with it if and when it happens. Assuming no bleeding I’ll stay away from alcohol over Xmas (will be hard to hide) and try move forward my appointment with the preterm clinic (AKA useless cervix unit) to see what my options are in the new year.

RhiBee29 · 23/12/2017 08:30

Good luck @Kit1411

@CoconutGal I had no symptoms at with DS other than sore boobs but since my mc I get sore boobs from ovulation to af anyway!

Cariad2017 · 23/12/2017 12:05

I shall be keeping everything crossed for you Paranormal.

Paranormal - It’s difficult to tell re: what’s causing our infertility. DH has poor morphology (which in essence means that the vast majority of his sperm look abnormal under a microscope), but the other sperm analysis metrics (including movement and quantity were good). They consider this to be a contributory issue and in theory given that the quantity of his sperm is high, there’s no reason on paper we shouldn’t manage it naturally, although as the months wear on it’s looking less and less likely.... DH started a new regime of loads of vitamins, low alcohol and minimal caffeine in mid-October but that’s fallen by the wayside somewhat this month, and as sperm take 3 months to form, it may well take until Spring for us to see the benefits of this (if any....)

DH’s test results came as a massive shock, particularly as we got pregnant 3 times in the 11 months it took to conceive DS, and our lifestyle, if anything, is healthier now than it was then (although I find juggling child rearing and work to be very stressful).

We’re planning to get the ball rolling on IVF in March come what may as I’m mindful that I’ll be 36 by then and still in an age bracket where IVF still has a reasonable prospect of success, whereas if we wait much longer the odds will start tumbling rapidly.

curliegirlie · 23/12/2017 12:15

@paranormal big congratulations! Don’t be too concerned about the Boots test. The dye is nowhere near as clear as the FRER, even with the early results one and it seems to fade after a few days too.

@Cariad2017 I really hope you get good news soon. I keep hopping on here in hope of an exciting post from you or @mynameisjune! You never know, it may still happen naturally. My DH’s sperm analysis results were absolutely crap (very low count) and we still managed it eventually. I have high hopes for 2018 for you Flowers

Cariad2017 · 23/12/2017 12:56

Thank you for popping on to check on us Curlie. Remind me, how far are you along? How’s it all going? Your story definitely gives me hope. A BFP early in the new year, followed by an Autumn 2018 baby would be just perfect. 🤞🤞🤞

Flybynight1 · 23/12/2017 13:07

Congrats paranormal!!

Ladies I'm out for January already. I've ovulated a full week earlier than expected and only realised due to temps shooting up. I did have ewcm a couple of days before but I ignored it because it was 7 DAYS EARLY!!! Angry there has been zero DTD thanks to illness.

Hoping you all have a good and merry Christmas (and a fertile one at that!), I'm just going to wallow in self pity surrounded by inlaws and the inevitable 'why doesn't DS have a sibling yet' Sad

Cariad2017 · 23/12/2017 13:20

Sending enormous hugs your way Fly. It’s so very very tough. I am a firm believer that a month off ttc can do us all good from time to time, but I’m mindful that it’s frustrating when it’s unintended.

I’ve decided to go hardcore on the booze free/ healthy eating and exercise regime in January in the hope that it kick starts my body into super fertile territory, but failing that I at least want to look good come the Summer of 2018! In the interim however I’m planning a Christmas of drinking and eating as much as I want to (it’s all relative of course!), so please come join me in my feast of merriment. Xxx

Flybynight1 · 23/12/2017 13:28

Cariad I will take you up on that offer!! Let's drink to the end of a shitty year and onwards to 2018-the year of the BFP! I'm picking my exercise regime back up once our guests leave, I'm a fan of the insanity workouts so I'll be getting back on those. They are crazy but I find they do the job!

MynameisJune · 23/12/2017 14:40

@curlie thanks for coming back and seeing how we all are. Hope things are progressing well for you.

@paranormal I don’t think I’ve said congratulations, I know you’re a bit tentative but I’m keeping everything crossed for you.

@cariad and @fly can I join you in the eating, drinking and be Merry club? Sorry your body went haywire fly it’s so frustrating when that happens. My body seems to be acting like it’s pregnant but another bfn this morning so I’m sure I’m out. But I’ve had to have an hour nap at 11am this morning which is just unheard of. I’ve also been in bed asleep for 9:30 every night. God knows what’s going on.

I’m also getting back on the healthy eating wagon and upping my exercise after Christmas.

Cariad2017 · 23/12/2017 17:09

Symptoms sound promising Mynameis and 11dpo is still very early, so you never know. I really hope you get that elusive BFP very very soon. Xxx

Paranormalbouquet · 23/12/2017 20:45

Cariad that is frustrating. Have you had all the invasive tests too? Curlie congratulations! Fly sorry you’ve all been ill. I think using this as a reason to take a proper break is a good idea. June 11dpo is early- the positive I had 2 days ago was with first response and was barely there so definitely wouldn’t have seen on an IC. Was so sure I was out that went to airport without any of mine!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! Fingers and toes all crossed here that this is sticky. This mornings first response was a good dark line so that’s reassuring at least. Can’t do much about my useless cervix over Xmas anyway.

Some good news from a friend today- after 2 years her first round of IVF has worked- got her BFP today. Do you think I should tell her about mine too? I’m erring on not wanting to tell to allow her enjoy her first ever BFP but if I do get to 12 weeks she might be annoyed I haven’t said anything til then?

TheIntrovertedMum · 23/12/2017 20:50

Any of you get cysts when you're pregnant? I had one for the first so many weeks with my dd and I have cyst pain atm, thinking positive 🤞🏻

TheIntrovertedMum · 23/12/2017 20:52

@Paranormalbouquet congrats 😍😍. Maybe tell her after Christmas/New year? That way she gets to enjoy her BFP and you can share your news with her and she won't feel overshadowed x

MonaTheMoaner · 23/12/2017 21:16

Definitely agree about telling her at new year. It can be special for you both but a little extra special over Christmas for her then.

Couldn’t wait and ended up testing except I stupidly tested with First Response original and not FRER. BFN but I took it apart and convinced myself there was the ever so faintest line I thought I could see. I’ve got another two tests —which I’ll end up wasting— so I’ll test tomorrow with FMU then save the other for Thursday/Friday if there’s no AF. I just keep setting myself up for disappointment :(

Kit1411 · 24/12/2017 10:58

Massively regret testing this morning at 11 dpo (or possibly 10 dpo if I o’d a bit later), BFN. Really was quite sure it would be positive this month with all the symptoms. Guess not and will try not to be too upset over Xmas.

Paranormalbouquet · 24/12/2017 12:26

Introverted never did, but hopefully it’s positive for you. Mona the range of tests stress me out too- such variable sensitivity and ink etc! Sounds positive though. Kit it’s still very early, my FR 6 days sooner had the faintest possible line on 11dpo so imagine would have been negative in a slightly different urine or a day earlier. With DD I had a super faint line the day of my missed period and I knew the day I conceived (DH had been away and home for only one night!).

I agree about not telling my friend til after new year- was actually hoping not to tell anyone until I was well into second trimester as such a high chance I will miscarry. But think she might be annoyed if she’s sharing stories re first trimester with me and I keep it all a secret.

Have no more tests but period officially late now. No spotting or bleeding. Will be miles from shops for next few days so will be good to not test again- I’ll drive myself mad comparing line strengths. With DD the CB indicator took ages to get to 3+ weeks which left me super stressed so avoiding them too!

MonaTheMoaner · 24/12/2017 12:38

Got a faint BFP on a First Response Rapid Response this morning so I made DH go out and buy a FRER. There it is. Faint but with colour and you can see it with the naked eye and no faffing within two minutes of POAS.

Pray for a sticky baby this time!!
