TTC weird period

We started TTC in October so only in cycle 2. My periods are normaly very uniformed- 2 days of heavy bleeding, one day light, spotting on the 4th day and nothing else. I have been off the pill for over a year so they have been this was for a while.

This month i had 1 day spotting brown, 4 days light period, and now I'm on a 3rd day of spotting so have been bleeding in some way for 8 days now. Have POAS and got BFP.

Can anyone shed light on what is going on? Can your periods change when you start TTC?

Congrats on your BFP.....it could just be implantation bleeding. This usually occurs 6-12 days after ovulation....

D'oh I meant BFN!

Not to worry - we all have that BFP on the brain! My periods are regular - 36 day cycle - and usually last 3-4 days. Each cycle is different for me though. Usually the first few days are heavier and then light spotting but it’s also been the opposite way round as well.

I wouldn’t worry too much as long as your cycles are remaining fairly regular?

Also - it is possible that you tested too early for the BFN? And that the bleeding is to do with implantation?

I would be approx 19dpo and used a sensitive (albeit internet cheapie) test.

I thought implantation bleeding was very light? This was light for a period but still enough that I had to use a pad, although I could have got away with 1 pad all day if I wanted to.

Unfortunately it sounds as if you might have been unlucky this time....my BFF tested too early and got a BFN! Then she assumed that she got her period but turned out to be implantation bleeding. She said that it remained light for a few days before it stopped and then started again....it also remained pink/brown rather than vibrant red (sorry perhaps TMI)! If yours has been a constant flow over the 8 days then sounds like AF!

Don’t have a definite answer as to why things are a little different for you this month but as long as cycles pretty regular then I don’t see anything that you should be overly worried about.

I'm not too fussed about not getting a BFP first cycle- I certainly expected it to take longer!

It's not been 8 days of period type bleeding. I've had 3 days of light bleeding and 5 days of brown spotting (just when I wipe).

I am in the same position as you tbh...only within 6 weeks or so of trying. I’m 33 so feeling a bit of pressure from those around me so ideally would like to see that BFP sooner rather than later! Although agree that I expect it to take a little longer....have you been using opk?

No I've just been monitoring CF but have just started temping as well.

I guess I just wanted to know whether a sudden change in AF is normal when you begin to TTC, or whether it is an indication of something. I feel like if it was implantation bleeding I'd have a BFP now, 8 days after AF was due.
