I haven't used a Boot's test but from what I ave read lots - there is no such think as a false positive, however faint!

sponge · 21/07/2004 15:04

Doesn't matter how faint it is. A line's a line. Re-check in a couple of days to reassure yourself.

SKM · 21/07/2004 15:08

I HAVE DONE 3 TESTS IN A WEEK AND THEY HAVE ALL BEEN FAINT,

Twinkie · 21/07/2004 15:08

When is your period due and have you used them first thing in the morning??

SKM · 21/07/2004 15:13

I have missed a period,I was about 2 weeks late when I had the show, None of the tests have been done first thing in the morning.

Yes, I had a faint positive on a boots test. I didn't want to wait around so I went out and bought a clearblue test and got another faint positive.

I Still didn't believe it as it was only our first month of trying (it took us over a year to conceive DD).

I phoned the clearblue customer careline who told me that you don't get false positives unless you have given birth/had a miscarriage within the last 6 weeks or are on any hormone medication.

They also said that if I wanted additional reassurance to repeat the test in a weeks time and the line should be a lot darker. (probably they just wanted me to go out and buy another test, but I had already bought a pack of 2!!)

Anyway decided that I couldn't wait a week and tested after 5 days and the + was definately darker.

I am now 8 weeks pregnant!!

PreggieMum · 21/07/2004 15:21

I think that it's best to test first thing in the morning as you haven't had so much fluid to dilute the hormone levels. I seem to remember the customer careline mentioning this too.

SKM · 21/07/2004 15:22

Thanks that feels me with some much hope, Please keep your fingers croosed for me , when you did the second one was it a lot darker, or still faint but def positive

SKM - try the clearblue elctronic one pricey but if you try it first thing in the morning it will either say pregnant or not pregnant - far easier IMO!! - GOOD LUCK FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU!!

PreggieMum · 21/07/2004 15:34

It was still fairly faint, but darker than the first 2 and definately positive.
Fingers crossed for you SKM!

Twinkie, where do you get the electronic one's from? I have a friend in a similar situation at the moment, she's had 3 faint positives and was asking me which are the best tests to use.

Fio2 · 21/07/2004 15:35

youmare pregnant

Twinkie · 21/07/2004 15:36

I got mine from Boots in London Bridge Station and one from Boots in Liverpool St Station - I think I must have blown £100 just making sure that I was - even after everyone said 'A line is a line is a line!'

lucy5 · 21/07/2004 23:00

I just knew I was preggers and didnt know how late my period was. So I bought the boots test and infact did 3, all with faint lines. Even then I wasnt convinced, so my mum took it up to the local chemists for them to examine, ooh the embarrassment! The pharmacist said it didnt matter how faint the line was, a line was a line. I was pregnant but really early on and somehow I just knew. Wishing you all the best at this most exciting time xxx

nightowl · 22/07/2004 01:17

i used a boots test and the line was so faint i thought i had imagined it. (i was really hoping i was pregnant) i kept opening and shutting my eyes to see if it was still there. i put it in my bag and forgot about it. four days later i went to the clinic and it was confirmed that i was pregnant. i remembered the test, opened my bag and there it was....a bright blue line.

lonelymumof3 · 22/07/2004 07:34

boots sell the clearblue digital....14.99 for 3 tests. You put the sample stick in the holder, do whatever on it and wait. The screen flashes and then when the result is ready, it comes up with the word PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT. Simple as that. Much easier than strsining your eyes to see if there is kibe there or not. Good luck

lonelymumof3 · 22/07/2004 07:34

line even

SKM · 22/07/2004 09:00
