Can't stop worrying!

Hi all. I'm ttc #2, currently in tww of cycle 4. It took 10 months to conceive my first DS. Long story short I instigated investigations. I had bloods and husband had semen analysis. While this was going on I also had mid cycle bleeding. They did a uterine biopsy and burned off some ectropion cells. That was the month I got pregnant - with non identical twins. Sadly one had disappeared at 8 weeks but I had a normal healthy pregnancy. I have convinced myself the only reason I got pg first time was due to the procedure I had on my womb and cervix. Friends have told me they've had an endometrial scratch as part of ivf and I am wondering if the biopsy had a similar effect. I have asked my gp and she said no, I'd have probably conceived that month anyway. I had some more ectropion cells burned off last month and the consultant told me to stop worrying and he would see me when I was pregnant. Which was nice to hear, but now I'm in the tww im worrying again. Can anyone help put my mind at ease please x

Hi,

I have no experience of what you’ve been through so don’t know about that but I think if your GP/consultant has told you it didn’t have any impact then they are likely to be right.

I know it doesn’t feel like it but you’re still early in this journey. For what it’s worth it took us over 3 years to conceive our dd, then fell pregnant quickly (2 cycles) but MMC and then quickly again (3 cycles) but tfmr and I then had to wait a year before falling pregnant again. I’ve had every test under the sun as we’re unexplained. I think sometimes it just takes some of us a bit longer. That said as I say you’re still quite early on in the process.

I’m not sure I have totally understood your post though or your worry as you say you had the same procedure done again last month and are now in the TWW so I’m not sure what’s worrying you? That you haven’t fallen this month?

I hope all works out for you x

Hi - afraid I don't have any experience of this but didn't want to ignore.

I'm slightly confused so sorry if anything comes across as rude (I promise it isn't meant to!) - if you think the procedure may have helped you conceive last time and have had the same procedure again now, are you hopeful that it may have also helped?
I know there is some sound evidence for an endometrial scratch improving IVF success rates but without there being similar evidence for the exact procedure you have it probably does sound like a coincidence (a fortunate one though!).

I suppose the best thing to do would be to try and put the procedure to the back of your mind and just think of this month as a "normal" TTC month - although that is definitely easier said than done as the TWW is nobody's best friend! Is there anything fun you can focus on to make the two weeks feel like they go a little quicker?

Best of luck x

Hi both. Thank you so much for replying, I really do appreciate it!

Previously I had cervical erosion burned off plus a womb biopsy, then got pregnant.
6 weeks ago I had another cervical erosion burned off but nothing else.
I was hopeful but had a tummy bug that threw a spanner in the works!!

Suppose I am worried as usual during the tww because there's a mean voice in my head that says I won't be able to get pregnant again and the only reason I got pregnant before was due to the womb biopsy (I have convinced myself that healing process made nice healthy tissue for implantation to occur) I should also add that I have had a trqnsvaginal ultrasound this time around and there were no problems apart from a ?? Teeny polyp which the consultant said was nothing to worry about. I did stupidly forget to ask him if the biopsy could have helped last time, but I did ask the gp.
I know it's early on, it's so hard this time, again!! I am a nurse and not a good patient. I suppose I just want someone to say what you've already said, it was coincidental and just a normal month ttc when I got pregnant.
Thank you both again xx
