TTC 5 months after Childbirth & now irregular periods?!

Hello, this is my first thread! Usually just lurk on threads.

We had our DS 5 months ago and have been actively TTC for past 3 as we want them super close together.

I did exclusively BF for first month but then by 2 months it was a mixture of BFing and expressed bottles and by 2.5 months DS was on solely formula. (Needed to get back to work asap)

I had a period 9 weeks after childbirth but then my next one didn't occur until 8 weeks later (did keep taking HPT but all were BFN!!) and now I have been waiting 5 weeks for next one to show (still all BFNs)

Before DS my periods were a little irregular but only by +/- 1 day! We also fell pregnant with DS in first cycle.

Any advice on what is going on and if this is normal to have irregular periods 3 months after giving up solely BFing?

Mine took about 6months to regulate they were all over the place, much longer cycles with a few weird short ones thrown in! We didn’t conceive second until I had them back for about 7months (though they didn’t start until DD was 7/8months as was exclusively BF but obviously reducing with weaning!) we were only really trying a month of two before falling again as I had no idea what my body was doing and wanted it to settle a little more. May take a little while to settle so don’t panic to much.

Thank you for you're reply. Reassuring to know you also had irregular periods for a while. A shame it might mean not being able to have close children though xx
