Hi ladies, so I have been trying the clear blue ovulation test for the past month and it kept on saying lim it ovulating but I was al aye testing after work about 8pm I don't know if that makes a difference anyway I tried a test just now before going to work and it's coming up with I am ovulating. When would you advise to have intercorse? Is it limited the time up until I can have intercorse if I'm trying to conceive?

With CB opks you are meant to test using FMU, so I'm not sure if your results are reliable or not.

You should have sex every other day of your cycle to be classed as “actively trying” to get pregnant. Also as Sandra pointed out. You should be using FMU with the clearblue tests.

Sorry guys I don't know what a fmu is?

Full morning urine fmu

It's first morning urine (not full) as in the first wee you have on waking which will be most concentrated.

Sorry to jump in (hope you don’t mind me asking a question) but I’m trying ttc #2, I stopped the pill in sept and my bleed came 28days later, then my period 26 days later so seems I may be going back to my regular periods, but I have no CM (cervical mucus) so I’m worried I may not be ovulating. Has anyone else conceived with no CM, or will it return in a few months? I’m 32 and was on the pill about 2 years. Thanks for any help.

SaturdaySauv · 17/11/2017 11:27

Did you get EWCM before taking the pill? If you did, it may just be that it might take a few months to regulate and may mean that you're not currently ovulating. Some months I get ewcm and some months not even though I've been off hormonal contraception for several years.

If you want to know for sure whether you're ovulating then temping for a few months might be a good plan. Opk can be good but only tell you if you're gearing up to ovulation (lh surge) but not if it actually happens.

Kit1411 · 17/11/2017 11:45

I did used to, but before the pill I had the implant so I’ve been on contraception for about 3 1/2 years so can’t remember how much. I am using ovulation tests (not every day though) haven’t had a positive one yet but we’re dtd every other day so just hoping this month we’ll get a BFP.

SaturdaySauv · 17/11/2017 12:22

Best of luck!

I use the internet cheapie opk and never actually get a line darker than control line but 'peak' readings are darker than others and align with ewcm and then a day or two later sore boobs that I get post ovulation.

I think they're a bit hit and miss as they aren't calibrated to your normal hormone levels like the fancier clear blue type ones.

I have been pregnant twice (1st month each time but latest was a chemical) by timing DTD based on the opk results without ever actually getting a textbook 'positive'.

Could have been luck of course but we only DTD once or twice in the fertile window but just carefully timed it with the opk results so I wouldn't worry necessarily if you're not getting strong positives.

Kit1411 · 17/11/2017 12:37

That’s good thanks. As I’m not having any CM just wish there was a more obvious sign to tell me I was ovulating. I think I’m just being impatient though coz I conceived my DS the first time we dtd that month so I was hoping for the same this time lol.

Kit1411 · 17/11/2017 12:43

It’s weird though coz I feel really bloated and a bit heavy/tingly in my uterus, wondering if I ovulated early, fingers crossed.
