Most people's cycles are connected to the moon - I usually have my period at the full moon and this is the most common time to menstruate.

I'm not convinced that most people menstrate when it's a full moon, if you look on a TTC board people are due throughout the month.

i get what f&z is saying there is a correlation between teh lunar and mentral cycle but this lunar fertility theory is a bit mental and probably not that helpful if you are already a bit mental ttc.

No, I didn't say MOST people menstruate at the full moon, I said it is the most common time to menstruate

Belgo, sorry. What I am trying to say is not that "most" people (ie more than 50%) are menstruating at the full moon. But that the most common time to menstruate (compared with other times of the lunar month) is then. Eg there might be 20% starting at the new moon, 20% the week before the full moon, 20% the week after, and 40% during the new moon (I have made these figures up totally). So, the full moon would be the most common time, compared with other times.

Aviatrix, go ahead...but bear in mind many people take hormones which is going to affect the timing of their body's natural cycles

I am not making it up just to be odd though, and I don't know how it works, but the moon has an effect on all sorts of things and menstruation is one of them. I read up on it when I noticed that my periods always gravitated to coincide with the full moon, if left alone over a period of time. It's fairly hard not to notice that every month there is this great impressive fat moon and then you start to bleed.

I can understand that due to the moon and earth's gravitational forces we have tides, but how can it effect something as internal as a woman's hormones?

Do you mean that it wouldn't have the same effect if it wasn't visible, belgo, or just that one wouldn't notice it?

No, I don't think seeing it has any effect. I just mentioned that as the reason that I noticed it was happening, and the thing that got me looking into it.

Yes, there must be some kind of scientific explanation, but I don't know what it is. You're happy with the fact that the moon does affect us in other ways, though? The thing about the full moon and mental illness is fairly well documented. Plus general admissions to hospital, etc.

Its not just full moon but aparently the phase of the moon when you were born comes into account as well. I am going to do it in reverse for DS1 and 2 to see if its true (if google will help lol!)

The moon has an effect on hormones, my children go wild in the run up to full moon.
