Did anyone catch quicker 2nd time round?

When me and DH were ttc first time it took about 18 months and I had been on the pill for at least 10 years. Just thinking when the time comes to try for baby 2 could it take as long (not currently on the pill, went on briefly after dd1 but came off after 10 months) or is it just one of those things you never know!

It took 5-6 months of trying for DS1 (8 months after coming off pill). I just found out I'm pregnant at the weekend and we decided to start trying in January, so that's been 2-3 months.

It's just one of those things you never know! DS1 6 months, DS2 3 months, DD 2 years

Congratulations. I bet your over the moon.
I hope it does not take too long, it can become very derpessing and you feel you are continually trying and not trying to be trying (if that makes sense!)?

i personally think its one of those things.

im not too sure about my my ds1 but ds2 took 3 months after stopping my pill.

i think you should try and be as laid back as possible (really really hard, i know!)

My Dh ould def like me being laid back!!! That may help conceive!!!!

Seriously though, we will be more laid back this time round as last time became too stressful and not an enjoyable exeperience.

Jenwa, my ds only took 3 months but now going into month 11 of ttc second time round.
i am an "older mum" at 37 so worried may take a long time, require intervention or never happen.

Soupdragon how old were you if i may be so bold as to ask when you took 2 years to conceive your dd?

I posted recently for first time on ttc no 2 for older mums thread but think i posted too late when thread had come to a conclusion so have barged in here.

bobbydazzler - sorry just seen this! I am 31 so not sure if will take longer this time round or not. Suppose its different for everyone and maybe age is a factor?
I never actually noticed ovulating this month, usually do a week before period but I never, did actually think I did on the day period came but dont know if thats poss? Actually had a spot on 28 day cycle but thats not norm for me!! Sorry about that ramble!
Anyway bobbydazzler you are welcome to barge away on here. It seems that its not going anywhere though!

Thanks Jenwa you have made me very excited by simply replying to me!

I have been lurking on quite a few threads of late (sign of my becoming increasingly obsessional with the whole thing!)and note that lots of the mums netters seem to know each other quite well. Now I feel part of the conception club, not sure if good thing or bad thing though .

I am fraid I can't answer your question re OV on day of your period. I still can't really tell when I am OV. I have tried using OV sticks but have only had a positive OV result that I can feel confident about during one month of using them and I think that was about day 10 or 11 which fits in with the change in CM type thing as well.

Anyway have talked hubby into us both going to see a GP in June to get checked out if no joy by then.

Did you have any tests first time round? How old is your DD now? Take care.

bobbydazzler- hi there, it is exciting when you get a reply, at least you know someone is reading!
DD is now 18 months old. When we were trying I did the temperature test and that got me in to recognising when ovulation was happening. I never carried it on for long as it seemed that I was getting to obsessed with everything! I worked out I usually OV around a week before period (ish) but can tell now without the tests etc. When concieved DD I rememeber OV in the week and it was about 3-4 days after that I concieved so it is always a bit strange. It makes me mad though that there are so many accidents happening (first time/one night stand etc ) and when you try it seems to take forever! I know there are accidents but it seems so hard to actaully fall PG given the small amount of fertile days and the fact that the egg may not implant,sperm may die, go wrong way ot the egg comes away and you would never know! How frustrating.
We did go and see a consultant and I was 5 weeks PG when we went and I never knew. I think maybe the stress had eased as I knew we were going to get seen! I found out 2 days after I had seen the consultant I was PG, was pleased as saw him in the Jan and next appt was not going to be til the May which would have seemed forever!
Hopefully things will work out for you. It just means lots of practice which my DH does not mind!!!!

Thanks Jenwa. I looked at the temp tests yesterday in Boots but have decided to hold off on buying anything else just yet. Boots are offering lots of products half price if you join their health club so thought would see if can get cheaper when I join that.

I have moved onto the TTC in May thread, maybe see you on there and hopefully we will both have BFP's soon

and yes my DH is still enjoying the practice
