Ladies - please help! I need to find a holiday for DH and I asap before he changes his mind!

We have a budget of £800. We can go for up to 14 nights from any London Airport. We are looking for an all inclusive beach holiday pref Dom Rep/Cuba/Jamaica on the beach with lots of sun!

Never been good at shopping online for such things and have always used traditional travel agents but I know that we need a really cheap deal this time to make it work! Tell me your secrets!

I'll have a look and see what I can find... I thought you were in Scotland?
What month are you hoping to go?

Wherever you go check it out by entering the resort/hotel name in the search box tripadvisor
to get reviews to make sure it isn't a bargain for all the wrong reasons

I also suggest drilling into the details of what the all inclusive includes. Some charge for bottled water and restrict you to particular times/ restaurants

expedia may not be the cheapest but it gives you a good idea of what's out there and has good pics.

There's also lastminute

scorpio1 · 12/04/2007 10:26

my parents have just been to cuba and loved it! happy holidays!

What about lastminute.com?im not sure if they do long haul holidays though?

greedyforbabies · 12/04/2007 10:37

try tropicalsky.com
and how about tobago? there are some quite cheap deals there at the moment and when we went 5 years ago it was lovely!
are you bothered about how luxurious the accomodation is? and is it £800 each or in total?

citydevilbunny · 12/04/2007 11:17

If its £800 in total there are some deals out there for Caribbean destinations, but you get more hotel options and days on holiday for your money in the mediterranean eg. Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia

Mytravel

Is a package company that offers deals. The far and away section has Dominican Republic options. eg. A week in May for £423 per person. May seems to have cheaper options.
Mediterranean options are in the Beach section.

We had a great time in St. Lucia, I can't find any deals for there, but I highly recommend it.

usefularticle

teletextholidays

You can also get good deals in the back of the Sunday times travel section

Other package operators:

Airtours
FirstChoice
Holiday.co.uk
Aito

MrsMcJnr · 12/04/2007 11:59

Ohh thank you CityAngel! I am in Scotland but we have to be in London on Monday 11/6 so can go from there after that for 14 days. Thanks for the tips! I?ll start looking.

Thanks Scorpio ? Cuba is one of the places we?d consider.

Greedy ? will have a look thanks. Our budget is £800 in total sadly

I?m a bit scared of going to Arabic countries at the mo (my SIL was in the Egyptian bomb 2 years ago too)

Greedy We stayed in the Royal by Rex acouple of years ago and loved it! It was safe and the restaurants were lovely and easy to walk to.

Oh Ready hugs. How about a weekend break somewhere? Or trip to London for the footie?

Thaks Cuba could be good. At the mo, there are no good deals for the last 2 weeks in June maybe it's too early, I'll wait a couple of weeks.

Hi MrsMc

I know it isn?t the Caribbean, but have you considered Gozo, a small island off the coast of Malta? Quiet, tranquil and the weather should be good, as it is quite far South in the Mediterranean. DH and I had a wonderful 10 days all inclusive in Malta, but next time said we?d like to go to Gozo, as it seems more secluded. I really don?t know about prices etc, but something else to think about ? we went there in Aug 2003, just when we?d given up TTC as after 2 years nothing was happening. On arrival at our hotel, the first thing I saw was a statuette of Malta?s fertility goddess in the hotel shop window ? 2 weeks later I found out I was pg with DD!. Consequently, she was pickled in alcohol as a blastocyst, but doesn?t seem to have done her much harm now!!

Hope you find something ? good luck!

Xxx

Goddess? to my holiday requirements!

Thanks Firsty both sound amazing, I?ve made a note of the site and I?ll check it in a couple of weeks again.

MrsMcJnr, don't have any idea on holidays but i can give a positive story abouts holidays and ttc I fell pregnant with dd (Sa Coma in Majorca) after 2yrs of trying.

PinkElephant · 13/04/2007 19:09

Greedy's right, we went to Tobago last year just before we got married (booked it before we got engaged!!). We stayed in a tiny untouched village which was just beautiful. Our lovely beech huts were newly built up on the hillside with a view to die for of the bay. It was also in the middle of the rain forrest so it was very tropical yet cool at night. We lazed on the beach, went out in boats to catch fish for tea, swung in the hammock and watched the millions of fireflies at night. Oh it was heaven!! It was stunning but a tad rustic in the village. We found it in the sunday times and we definately did for less than £800 each.

Ready · 14/04/2007 14:51

If it's a fertility goddess you are looking for - get thee to Blackpool!!
