saliva as lubrication?

sorry for intimate question but I've read in a couple of places saliva bad for sperm but as you can't use other lubricants when trying to conceive I wondered what others thought and whether people who had done this had conceived?

been trying for a year and seeing a doctor so don't want to do anything to jeopardise our chances

also some books say abstain before fertile time and others say have as much sex as possible - any views?! husband has low sperm count and some books say give extra time for sperm to 'build up' but other books say not

Hi Anne. Yes everything I have read says avoid saliva so I would give it a miss if I were you I've seen some stuff called preseed on sale on the net which is a sperm friendly lubricant - not used it myself but bet some other mnetters could tell you about it.
As far as how often to bd goes, if your husband has a low sperm count then you should be bding every other day according to one of my books. It might be worth reading the book which was recommended to me by several mnestters. It's called Taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It has been really useful to me. Good luck

well ive only had one child and trying really hard for another so im not too sure as what works for some doesnt work for others. I have heard that saliva kills sperm and alot of people have recommend pre-seed which is a sperm friendly lubication you can order it online.Also from what i gather you should have sex every other day following AF this helps to renew healthy sperm and every day on your fertile days.If you buy a ovulation kit from ebay you can work out your fertile time.You should also have sex in the missionary position, take pre-natal vitamins etc just basically start looking after yourself. I am at the moment drinking grapefruit juice as it helps to provide a better environment for the sperm to live apparently im just giving anything a go.
