Waiting and Waiting

I know this must sound really impatient but am now POD 5 and desperate to know if I am pg or not. Have been lurking around MN since having DS1 in September 02 but never had enough courage to post! Any advice or do I just have to wait this one out?

what does POD 5 mean?

Azure · 16/07/2004 14:22

Unfortunately I don't think there is much you can do but wait for another few days. Best of luck!!!

Angeliz · 16/07/2004 14:33

vict17 · 19/07/2004 12:43

period overdue - is that what it means?!

malinki · 19/07/2004 13:08

TEST!!!!!

Pidge · 19/07/2004 13:40

Fonzie - I would definitely test - I'm far too impatient to wait! Cheapest option is to go to your gp to get tested for free - but that may involve a wait as they often send off for results. Otherwise - just get down to your nearest pharmacy - it's around £7-8 for one test stick or two.

Good luck.

Get a 2 pack. It's much cheaper than buying them singly and IME you're never satisfied with the result from just one.

Haven't had the courage to test yet but actually bought some yesterday. After the weekend and the last few days, I seem to be the mother from hell and not sure whether PMT has kicked in big time or if hormones are all over the place because I might be pregnant. Isn't it too early to test yet? I had bad experiences with home tests when pregnant with DS1 - 2 tests, 1st on day due and 2nd a fortnight later, both came out negative! Hence my reasons for stalling slightly. PS POD means post ovultory day.

i would do one now and than again in a few days. good luck! x

Fonzie - this time round I did get a negative test 2 days before my period was due, then a very very very very faint positive the day after my due date, and a much clearer positive 3 days later.

The tests are supposed to be good from the first day of your expected period - so you could test if you've reached that point and then just wait and retest if you get a negative and still no period 3-4 days later.

Oooh the suspense!

Fonzie · 21/07/2004 13:18

Thanks for all the advice. Will let you know the outcome as soon as I know myself!

Technically speaking you can't be pregnant at 5dpo, I think? - you might have a fertilised egg floating down your tubes though. You don't produce the hormone that the tests look for until the egg implants (6 to 10 dpo).

I bought a pack of tests from here . 25 tests for £8 inc p&p. Arrived really quickly too. You can test from the day after you implant (although you don't know when that is!). Best to do it first thing in the morning (highest concentration of the hormone). I got a faint positive on POD 11 . But at 32p a test you can just do one every day. Once I'd got a really strong line on the cheapy test (day 15) I did a ClearBlue just to make sure!
