TTC while breastfeeding

Hello! I have a two-month old baby but am already thinking of TTC soonish, as we took a long time to conceive and I want a small age gap between my kids. But I'm EBF and plan to until 6 months (and I want to BF until he's at least 1). My periods have not returned so I might not even be able to conceive yet.

Has anyone else conceived while EBF, and did it affect your milk supply? I'm scared of jeopardising my milk supply if I do end up getting pregnant, or that I'll get an aversion to breastfeeding, which is apparently fairly common during pregnancy.

But do I have to wait until my baby is 1 to TTC just to ensure my baby will be breastfed until he is 1?

My DS is 11 months and we have recently started TTC. I came off the pill in August and have yet to have a period. I did have a couple of periods before starting the pill but still waiting now. Have been using ovulation sticks and had a couple of surges but nothing really. It will affect your supply and I would may be wait until your DC is nearing one.

Depends. If you have no periods, you can't get pregnant. You don't get to decide when your periods come back unfortunately, unless you stop feeding.

My periods didn't come back until I stopped feeding completely.

My periods returned at 4mths. Do consider that your hormonal balance will be different now, so conception may not take so long.

It will affect milk supply, so I would wait til baby is on solid food too (so at least 6 mths) to avoid having to stop bf.
