Has anyone ever used an ovuliser?

I read about them ages ago in a paper and wondered if anyone had ever used one. They are supposed to determine ovulation by your saliva in the morning. I couldn't find any info on google except for this

sorry am no good at links even though I followed the instructions!

I've been using a saliva microscope, Calista, thought it would be a better deal than conventional opks as it lasts for up to 2 years.

It's pretty good at showing when I'm close to ovulation, you're supposed to look for fern patterns - but I seem to get these for 4 days or so leading up to ovulation... since I've been checking other fertility signs it seems that I may ovulate as long as a couple of days after the last day I get ferns, so it's not an exact science. (apparently this is the problem with opks generally)

I've now learned that it's better to use opks in the afternoon, as this is when the hormones surge... so will try that this month.

Have also just bought some conventional opks to compare - got them from a website recommended on another thread here cost less than £10 for 20 opks and 5 pregnancy tests - arrived in about 3 days but not sure what kind of quality they are!

Good luck!

Just reviving this one to ask if anyone has had success with the saliva ovluation test thingy? Plus a friend cut out an article for me that said there is new evidence that we ovulate up to three times a month?! Hadn't heard that before..

Hi Karen99 - The ovuliser works as far as pinpointing my ovulation (although not sure about the 3 times a month thing!) and just as well as the pee on a stick kind which I also got - but I'm still not bl**dy pg!!!

bibi20

Did you use them at the same time (saliva and usual opk)?

Bibi20 · 13/10/2004 15:37

yes - I wanted to compare them to see if they gave the same result - which they did!

thanks for the have just started spotting so looks like didn't happen this month either...

I bought a saliva test kit last night in Superdrug - £29.99....look easy enough to use so far!

again Bibi20.. the only other bit of advice which we're going to follow this month is to bd every couple of days over the two week period you think you might ovulate. I also read that if you're stressed around the time you think you ovulate (which most of us are that are ttc) it will most likely delay ovulation by a couple of days more than expected, even whn using the tests, and subsequently your af will be a couple of days late too. So maybe keep trying for five days after you think you will ovulate iyswim..

Just ordered some opk from here yesterday and they arrived this morning! Now that's service..
