Hi,
I have found a lot of helpful advice on here and just wanted to post what (appears to have) helped me finally conceive this month after 18 months in case is should help anyone else!

  1. I lay on my back with my legs elevated for 20 mins after sex... then I inserted an instead cup with some preseed on to keep them all up there. We have slight male factor issues so wanted to give them any extra help I could! I was dubious about this method as other people have said all good ones will get through and the ones that don't aren't any good but if you google 'cervical cap conception' there's actually quite a bit of research where similar concept is similar in effectiveness to IUI.
  1. I took a baby aspirin every other day from ovulation to help with blood flow. Apparently some IVF clinics recomend. But check with your GP first if you are thinking of taking as aspirin can be dangerous for some people.
  1. I dtd the eve I started to get lh surge, the following morning and the following evening. I have very short lh surge and seem to ovulate within 12 hours of first noticing it so if I leave it too long after spotting it the egg would probably be too shrivelled so just worth noting that not everyone might have the usual 24-36 hour window.
  1. OH took high strength Vit c and zinc as well as pine bark extract. I took usual vits and high strength omega 3.

Anyway so yay I finally got a bfp!I'm not sure if any of the above helped or if i was just finally lucky but just wanted to post in case it might help someone! 😊

Congratulations 🎉 thanks for tips!

Oh I forgot, the other thing I did this month was no oral during my fertile time (sorry too much information!) as I read saliva was bad. Something I hadn't even thought about before until I read it on here! Needless to say my OH was not to happy about this one!

Will have to try these x

Clara101 · 30/09/2017 16:46

Thank you for these tips! Did you use something like mooncup?

I read this on MN before but found moon cup uncomfortable. Good to know if you used that or something bit different? THank you!

Also what's the difference between baby aspirin and normal.. is it dosage?

Clara101 · 30/09/2017 16:47

And of course Congrats!!!!!

Bonnieb168 · 01/10/2017 08:35

Hi Clara, I used an 'instead cup'. I bought them off eBay - new of course! I have never used anything like them before but it was actually really easy! Just popped it in after 20 minutes of the leg stuff then took it out the next morning. Meant zero leakage and I couldn't feel it and had no issue removing at all (which I was a bit worried about!). I think my OH really thought I'd lost the plot this time but as we already have one child we can't get any help on NHS so I thought I'd throw the kitchen sink at it so as to speak as one last try before spending a lot of money!

Link to them is here pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=132336212164. Quite pricey (I think because they no longer sell them) but significantly cheaper than IUI!

I used 75mg dosage aspirin from boots. Baby aspirin is anything under 80mg I think. At some IVF clinics they apparently advise to take daily but i was bit scared so i just did every other and stopped when I got my bfp.

Good luck - hope it helps!

Thank you very much for this. Do you mind sharing how you know you have ovulated within 12 hours of LH surge?

Bonnieb168 · 03/10/2017 13:59

Hi Happy Hendgehog,

Well actually I guess I don't know for sure but the signs point to it for me - My surge itself is quite short (about 12 - 18 hours) which I know from doing multiple ovulation tests. I always get noticeable cramping and lots of EWCM on same day as the surge and then it immidietely dries up and my boobs get sore so I think that it when I must ovulate. My period seems to come exactly 14 days after day of surge so it all points to me ovulating on that day.

I also read that you ovulate when the surge is on its way down and as mine seems to be all over quite quickly it makes sense that i would ovulate in that time.

Hope that helps :)

Congratulations! Just wondering what your 'usual vits' were... I'm having issues with vits lengthening and messing with cycle....

HappyHedgehog247 · 03/10/2017 14:13

Thanks @Bonnieb. I'd only been doing opk sticks every 24 hours, think i might track more closely this next cycle, thank you and yes to the sore boobs - I think that's the day after ovulation for me but trying to nail it down!

Bonnieb168 · 03/10/2017 18:00

@hullabaloo - I've been taking some seven seas ones I bought from bodycare. I'm a bit rubbish with the big vitamins as they make me feel sick but these ones are much smaller but still contain the folic acid, vit D and B etc.

My GP told me previously that it was only folic acid and vit D that is important, the others you should get enough of anyway from a normal diet so perhaps just try taking those if you're having trouble with them?
