Negative Result Feel Pregnant

Hi everyone, I really hope someone can help me. My bf and I have been trying to get pregnant. The only problem is he works away from home during the week and is only home at weekends. I have very irregular periods anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks but I calculated the average of a 28 day cycle. We had sex once during what would have been my fertile period (according to the 28 day cycle) and ever since then I have felt strange. My symptoms have included cramping, increased discharge, feeling more tired than usual, hot flashes, light headeness, feeling more emotional, feeling nauseous at random times of the day, needing the toilet a lot more. Now for the last three days I have been feeling like my period could come at any moment and it doesn't come, so I took a test early today (not morning urine) but it came back negative :( Could I be pregnant? Or could this be psychosomatic because I want another baby desperately? I really hope someone can give me some insight in to what's happening to me xx

Unfortunate no-one can tell you what’s happening (sorry).

You could be pregnant. You could be imagining or exaggerating symptoms. You could be experiencing symptoms as a result of your period being due.

The real tragedy of the two week wait is it happens when you feel at your lowest - progesterone makes you feel more emotional.

All I can suggest is you give yourself a break, have a cup of tea, and wait a few more days. Either your period will come, or a positive test, or another cycle.

Big hugs x

Thank you NimbleKnitter :)
I guess worrying about it won't help anything. The whole not knowing thing is just very frustrating. I'd almost prefer knowing I'm defo not that this current limbo.
Oh well, fingers crossed the end of this week brings a positive result or at least a clear answer xx

Just an update. According to average 28 day cycle, I'm now 2 days overdue. Still experiencing menstrual cramp pain. Keep feeling convinced af has arrived and nothing. Still feeling all the symptoms. Had the slightest of blood smears on my undies last night and today again nothing. Took another test (again not first morning) and again negative. Doc refuses to give me a blood test or scan this early on, says to wait another week. Honestly feeling like I'm losing my mind right now :(

Also we only had sex once this month and I'm pregnant so can happen
I also had practically the same symptoms as you are having!

mumof3boys33 · 30/09/2017 09:30

Good luck. But if you aren't expecting how about buying one of those home ovulation kits? where you wee on a stick and it will tell you approximately 24 hours before you ovulate.
They worked for me with my first.

MissKellyJ · 30/09/2017 10:39

Thank you both. Really trying hard not to get my hopes up or I know I will be gutted if it turns out not. It's hard not to hope though. Never had these symptoms with my first but they say no two pregnancies are the same xx

Yeah, your doctor won’t test because (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) you’re either pregnant or you’re not.

Continuing to test won’t change anything. It’ll just make you more upset if you keep getting a negative.

If you want to know what’s going in you could start BBT charting. This will tell you when you ovulated, and whether your temps are still high (ie an indication of progesterone levels and possible pregnancy).

Please - step away from the tests

Hi ladies,
Just another quick update. After weeks of being convinced I'm going mad, I got taken to hospital yesterday with a suspected ectopic pregnancy after spending the entire day cramping badly. Finally got scanned and I am happy to say I am 6 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby :) Tested myself this morning out of curiosity and yes, finally got my bfp!! So happy I can't even begin to tell you. But to all you ladies in my position, trust your body. It might not always be true but it was in my case. Sometimes even those ruddy tests don't pick up what our bodies are practically screaming at us.
Good luck to you all xx
