Fresh Pineapple

I'm starting my 2ww and have just treated myself to a delcious looking fresh pineapple (well, it's almost Easter egg shaped).

BUT I have vague memories of reading fresh pineapple is either good (yay!) or bad (boo) for implantation.... can anyone put me right before a plough into it!

Thanks!

I know it's one of the things that's supposed to be good for starting off labour, but not sure from the conception pov.

Plibble · 06/04/2007 13:40

I'm sure I read somewhere that it is good for implantation. Whether this is based on any actual science or not is another matter...

oooh never heard of this, only heard about the grapefruit affecting CM

Hi Chocolatedays there is quite a few postings on IVFworld.com either in the general forum or 2WWthreads about pinapple - most say its good for implantation - something around making the lining more "sticky".....

A friend of mine recently told me to drink pineapple juice after ov as it is meant to be good for implantation!! Not sure of the science behind it - but I'd say enjoy your pineapple anyway

ChocolateSucksWithoutSugar · 07/04/2007 14:32

Never heard anything about it being good when ttc, but have heard that it is bad (along with peas and soya).

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 07/04/2007 14:41

Why are peas bad when ttc?

ChocolateSucksWithoutSugar · 07/04/2007 14:48

Eureka - have been intermittently searching for where I read it for ages, but here it is .

In fact it seems like they haven't yet determined whether peas contain enough of the stuff to be a problem yet or not.

Thanks all - it is a delicious as it looks. YUM!

Glad it was good Chocolatedays I adore pineapple!!

Hijack again... but what things have soya in them?? Naive? Me?

dogtired · 08/04/2007 07:19

Apparently fresh pineapple juice is good one glass a day helps implantation (like a few Brazil nuts are also supposed to be good) but not actual pineapples. once a pineapple is juiced the enzyme associated with contractions
is destroyed.

If you've eaten some fresh pineapple I'm sure you'll have done yourself NO harm whatsoever as in these vv early stages contractions would be extremely unlikely. (Eating fresh pineapple to induce labour probably never works anyway)

Good luck chocolatedays! 8 looong days left for me!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 08/04/2007 14:16

Oooh... brazil nuts!! I love them! And have been forcefeeding DH with them because of their selenium!! So we always have plenty in the house!!

Chocolatedays, hope you are doing ok??
