CB OPK flashing smileys so no way I could be pregnant, right?

I'm on day 6 of flashing smileys with my Clearblue Dual Hormone OPK test. I don't have regular periods at the moment due to breastfeeding but have massively cut back on feeds to kick start TTC and have reason to believe things might be starting to get going again.

Anyhoo, the last 6 days I have had flashing smileys indicating "high fertility" but no peak to show an LH surge. This weekend we are seeing some friends and I would quite like a glass of wine or two (I won't be going crazy obviously).

So, I don't think there is any way I could be pregnant because I didn't have the peak indicating ovulation was imminent.

So, long story short - is there any way to have ovulated but not seen the solid smiley, peak fertility indicator (a positive OPK). Is it possible that I did ovulate and am now in the 2ww or is that ridiculously unlikely? (I think it probably is).

Hope that makes sense and thanks for reading my mini essay!

I think that it's very unlikely you've ovulated yet, sometimes it took 9 days of flashing smilies before I got the peak. If you've been taking the tests every fmu per the instructions then you're not in the 2ww yet.

I'd have a few glasses of wine with your friends, it might be the last chance you get for a while 🤞🏻 So make the most of it. Even in the unlikely situation that you had conceived, a few glasses is so unlikely to do anything (people drink before they release they are pregnant all the time) so that should reassure any niggling doubts.

Have a nice time with your friends 😄

Not sure which OPKs you're using but I had days of smiley faces so did a pregnancy test and it was positive! I thought I was leading up to ovulation following period but was actually a few weeks pregnant after implantation bleeding.

I would get a test!

But yes chances are small! I enjoyed a glass of wine or two before I realised.

I never got a peak the month i got pregnant....But it's fine to drink now, even if you have ovulated there's no way anything would have implanted yet.
Enjoy your night out!

Just seen that my last post yesterday didn't actually post!! Argh!

Thank you all for the reassuring responses! I did have a couple of small glasses of wine and think it will be fine! Very much doubt I am pregnant with no peak but I was interested to hear what you said scared - how many flashing smileys did you get that month? Did you give up testing or just keep going until you took a pregnancy test?

Doublechocolate - wow, 9 flashing smileys!! Did you find that happened regularly or did something change to delay ovulation do you think?

everybody I think the chance of me being pregnant and it being far enough along to register on a test is vanishingly small but I did a test just in case and, sure enough was a BFN. Good to check tho! I didn't know an positive OPK could indicate a pregnancy!!

I think I had about 8 our 9, I can't quite remember. I carried on till a few days past ewcm had gone.
I had all the symptoms of ovulating so didn't really believe I hadn't.
I read that because you only test first thing and the LH surge can last only 12 hours, it is possible to miss it with the CB tests.
Tbh I'm not sure they're worth the extra money they cost.

Thanks Scaredy! Another flashy today... I think I will give up for now! We were originally going to wait for the new year to TTC and then for various reasons decided to do it early. I think I'm going to wait for my cycle to settle down and then try again in Jan when, hopefully, it will be easier to pinpoint (if or) when ovulation happens!

Glad you enjoyed your night! Yes I think the OPK picks up HCG if you're pregnant the same way it picks up the LH. It was so confusing when it happened, I just couldn't work out the dates!

Good luck when you decide to go for it Smile
