Using clear blue OPK post miscarriage

So, I went in for medical management (tablets) on 2 Sept after finding out I'd had a missed miscarriage.

We have our follow up scan this afternoon.

Have been doing pregnancy tests to monitor the HCG levels since the Medical Management and been getting negative for a few days.

Decided to start using the OPK yesterday because we have follow up scan today so can (hopefully) get busy post-that. Yesterday was an empty circle but today it went to solid smiley, no flashings.

Earlier in the year I used to consistently have 4 flashings before solid but on the cycle we conceived on (the miscarriage baby) I only had one flashing before peak.

Slightly concerned the solid today is a false positive but it seems to suggest that false positives are only for high readings, not peak (I.e. Flashing rather than solid).

We can't DTD until tonight so am worried about missing the egg and we desperately want to be pregnant again - I turn 39 on Thursday!

Anyone else have any experience of these kits post miscarriage?

To be honest I find these kits hugely variable from month to month (sometimes I get several days of flashing, some months I get none, sometimes it only picks up LH surge when the egg has released).
Given also that you had a MC you may find your body makes a few attempts to ovulate before it actually gets on with it. Plus, you only had the peak this morning so if you DTD tonight you may well catch the egg, it's worth cracking on!
Good luck.

Thanks Polly. I think it's so hard after MC as you just want to crack on again but you also want to give yourself the best chance, yet as you say, your body's gone bonkers!!!

I had an erpc on 4th May and don't actually appear to have ovulated since, which has cost me a disgusting amount of money in CB dual hormone sticks! It can take a while for your cycles to get back to normal, so I would take any opk results with a pinch of salt at this stage. I've actually gone back to internet cheapies for a bit until my body sorts itself out.

Having had three mmcs, my advice would be to wait until you've had a period, and then crack on with the opks again. I know it's tempting to try and conceive again immediately (I'm 43, so I get the age thing), but it's only a few weeks and it just lets your body get back into it's normal rhythm.

Good luck.

This was me back in June! Had a positive clear blue opk 2 weeks after having my late mmc induced. I was actually getting bfns on all tests except frer where I was still getting the tiniest hint of a line. Assumed that's why I was getting the smiley face but it actually was that I ovulated! Don't worry you should still be fine timewise if you do it tonight!

Thanks for your comments ladies!!! This is so hard. I can totally get why they say wait for a period as at least that way it makes it a bit easier but I don't want to wait!

Photos are clear blue from yesterday and this morning (not sure which is which as they were in bin!). Middle is a cheapie opk I did just now and last is a brand new clear blue from a spare tester. That was first time I used it and went straight to static.

Fingers bloody crossed. We literally got the all clear on scan at 235pm. Now just need OH to get home and be willing

Have started using clear blue this month for the first time!
Had a miscarriage in may which was actually a surprise so wasn't 'trying'
Very much wanted tho
But now we are actually trying nothing is happening, completely missed the flashing stage and went from no face to solid the day after
So we dtd
And then I've come on my period two weeks early!
It seems my body is still ALL over the place!
Don't think I will bother with the strips anymore, just dtd as much as we can really!
Good luck!

coastalchick · 19/09/2017 17:58

Oh god! Maybe it is just a random surge and not real ovulation. Who bloody knows! We are off on hols thurs so part of me tempted not to bother this month and just enjoy holiday drinking but thought of me turning 39 thurs is scaring me. Plus could do with not drinking anyway to avoid any more weight gain

So, after the day of static it went negative again. We hadn't managed to muster the energy to DTD. Now last 2 days negative then this morning smiling flashy and just fine again and same! It is all over the chip shop!!!

I know the one step sticks pick up HCG as well so it may be positive because of that.

Mine were really really strong when I was pregnant.

I had a miscarriage about a month ago, at 8 weeks which resolved itself. I waited for my period which was about 2 weeks later. It was very light only 2 days. I've then been doing the one step sticks most days because I've no idea if my cycle will go back to normal.

Hope that helps. Good luck x

coastalchick · 24/09/2017 18:42

Thanks daffodil. So sorry for your loss. X I was getting consistent BFN's on the HCG tests so could it still be that?

We just DTD so guess may know if ovulated soon or may still have no clue!

I had a positive pregnancy test about 3 weeks ago, I did a clear blue one which said I was 3+ weeks. I had some bleeding and mild cramps - I would have just thought I was on my period but I booked a private scan and she said there was nothing there. I was told that it would take 2 weeks to get a negative result again, I’ve took another test and it still says positive? Can the clear blue dates be wrong that they say you are further along than you are?
