Ivf - no implant bleeding

I had ivf 5 days ago, as yet I've had no implantation bleeding, does this mean it's failed?
I can't test for another week, and medications mean I won't get a period before then.

Unless this is a specific thing you've been told to expect to happen as a result of ivf then no, not at all - implantation bleeding is actually very rare.

zaalitje · 18/09/2017 14:54

Really? Most of my friends have experienced it. I assumed it was normal.
But it is there on my list to watch for.

I was surprised to find out that it's actually quite rare too OP, but everything I've read on the subject of ttc lists it as a thing you might experience but the vast majority don't. Good luck xx

blue2014 · 18/09/2017 15:16

No it's not a thing everyone has. I conceived on my first round of IVF with no implantation bleeding.

SanJunipero · 18/09/2017 15:20

I had implantation bleeding when I had a successful round of IVF, but not until 8 days post-transfer (5-day blastocyst), and plenty of women don't experience any implantation bleeding at all. Good luck, and look after yourself - the wait to find out if it's worked can be so hard xx

sparechange · 18/09/2017 15:27

I've had 3 IVF pregnancies and haven't had any implantation bleeding.

With my first, I had a few zappy/tingling feelings which I think was implantation but nothing at all with the other two.

Good luck Flowers

I read up about it this week as I've had a little spotting myself. Apparently less than 1/3 women experience implantation bleeding, so you shouldn't see it as a sign that IVF hasn't worked. Fingers crossed for you OP.

zaalitje · 18/09/2017 15:36

90%+ of friends have had implant bleeds so I understood it to be the norm. Everything from light spotting to heavy enough that they mistook for a period.

I had read that if no implantation by 5 days after transfer it wasn't going to happen, so I really need that bleed.

The clinic wrote mentions it s lot in its post transfer info so maybe more common or expected with ivf?

I don't know anyone who has had implantation bleeding

Oysterbabe · 18/09/2017 16:29

Pregnant with my second and no implantation bleeding either time.

glastogal · 18/09/2017 16:36

I had no implantation bleeding in my successful IVF cycle.

TiramisuQueenoftheFaeries · 18/09/2017 16:39

The only pregnancy I had implantation bleeding on (out of 4) is the one I miscarried.

Presence or absence, really doesn't mean anything.

TonicAndTonic · 18/09/2017 16:41

Don't know much at all about IVF but currently pg and didn't get any implantation bleeding that I'm aware of.

Fingers crossed for you OP Flowers

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 18/09/2017 17:27

I have had an ivf baby and I had zero implantation bleeding. Try and stay away from possible signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Looking for them won't make you pregnant.

sparechange · 18/09/2017 17:33

I think it's common to see a bit of spotting after an embryo transfer because the catheter can scrape the lining as it goes in, and that can cause a little bit of spotting/bleeding.

But I really wouldn't consider it normal and certainly not something 90% of women get.

I've been on lots of the IVF support threads here and elsewhere and it certainly isn't mentioned as a typical thing, and there is a LOT of talk about symptoms!

demirose87 · 18/09/2017 17:34

I only implantion bled with two out of four pregnancies and was very light so it might not have failed. Good luck.

justforthisthread101 · 18/09/2017 17:35

I had it one time and not the other.

Good luck OP Flowers

RubyBoots7 · 18/09/2017 17:56

Successful IVF/ICSI FET implantation confirmed.
Zero implantation bleeding.

Bleeding is not a sign of pregnancy/no pregnancy. Happens for some and not others. Try not to compare yourself to the friends you have sampled. Human bodies do all sorts and it means nowt.
Try to distract yourself. You won't know either way until you test :)

Godsbeloved · 26/09/2019 09:46

Implantation bleed was also on my list for successful pregnancy. I am also on my 2 week wait . And so far no signs of any implantation bleed.

Godsbeloved · 26/09/2019 09:49

Thank you for the reminder .. was researching like crazy for the symptom. Realised some symptoms are a result of medications as well

Gruntvsgunt · 26/09/2019 10:29

Another one here with an ivf baby that didn’t have an implantation bleed . Good luck xx

Godsbeloved · 26/09/2019 14:25

Thank you for your encouragement. Praying for the best 🙏

Gruntvsgunt · 28/09/2019 15:27

How are things going OP, did you test yet? X

Godsbeloved · 29/09/2019 12:11

No... I have not tested yet .. original test date is on 3 oct

Gruntvsgunt · 29/09/2019 12:43

Oh ok, good luck cx
