Introducing hester

Hi, just introducing myself. I've been lurking for a wee while, feeling a little shy. [Deep breath] I'm 40, no children, have been ttc on and off for ages and ages (assisted conception and complicated story!). I'm beginning to accept it's not going to happen for me - which is very painful - but I've decided to give myself till the end of the year before giving up and moving on. Don't know why I feel so embarrassed about saying that - probably because it makes me sound like such a no-hoper. Anyway, here I am!

Welcome Hester! I have the opposite problem - seem to get pregnant when my husband is in the same room as me. Hang in there!

hester · 14/07/2004 17:37

Maybe I need to borrow your husband

welcome Hester! You'll find lots of support here whatever you decide in the next few months. I'm ttc number 2, have been for 18 months and I'm finding Mumsnet an enormous support, just having people in similar situations to chat to is fab.

Hi hester and welcome to mumsnet

almost40 · 14/07/2004 17:52

I don't think it's my husband actually. I think I constantly ovulate or something like that. Anyway, as Msflowerpot says, this is a great forum for people with similar issues and those with other issues . . . I actually am hoping to conceive again, just not now. In my opinion, you shouldn't feel compelled to give up trying at 40. Remember 40 is the New 20.

Welcome Hester ... don't ever give up! Look at how far medicine has come and how many much older ladies are having succesful pregnancies! Don't limit your possibilities or give yourself a cut off time. Youll stop when it's time to stop, honest! Good luck! Think positive!!

Welcome to mumsnet Hester. We are in similar situations. I've been TTC with the aid of IUI for the past 3 years. Have 2 more go's, then that's it for me, however painful. There has to be a cut off point.

Welcome Hester, and don't worry, even if you give up there's hope. I know two couples who tried for ages and as soon as they "accepted" it was not going to happen, it did. One got the adopted child and own almost at the same time, the other one have 2 daughters and a son, so there's hope

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, and for your support. Much appreciated. My poor withered ovaries are feeling perkier already!
