I look terrible!

I am 40 ttc, white hairs expanding in area rapidly, haven't done any root touch up for about five months as have read about risks even if done in the first half of cycle.

I am really pale and I do look terrible with all the white hair round my face. Is there anything safe I can do? I have tried some of the brush in, wash out stuff that looks like eyeshadow but it didn't really work.

Sorry this is boring. I am not getting pregnant, miscarried once, then nothing, lots of other stresses going on, and would like to try and raise my mood by looking a bit better.

Hi!

So sorry you're having a tough time TTC.

I'm a hairdresser and handled colour while TTC, pregnant and now BF. It's not thought that colouring your hair penetrates the scalp and therefore enters the bloodstream. So I would say the main risk once you are pregnant is that of a potential allergic reaction because of changes to skin composition rather than anything from the colour itself.

So other than making sure you do a skin test beforehand, colour away!

This is what the NHS guidelines say:

Thank you LittlePear that is encouraging, perhaps the sites I had read were a bit alarmist. I will try not to get too much on the scalp.
