Basal temperatures

Please can someone help me understand? I've done an ovulation test yesterday and it was positive (quite dark line). Took my temp this morning (up the bloody bum, tmi but I think relevant as it's apparently more accurate) and it was 36.77c. Took another test today and positive but a bit lighter line but same darkness as test line. So did I peak yesterday? I've only just started using thermometer so I'm not sure what temp should be! Thanks if you've got to the end!

Temperature won't tell you much if today was the first time you took it?

But I'd go off yesterday's opk... So you would ovulated within 12-36 hours of the positive.

Never heard of putting it up your bum but definitely try vaginal...

Ohhh. Lol. It says on the instructions rectal is the best way. It said under arm might not be accurate due to cold conditions etc and mouth has different temperatures in different areas so rectal is the best one! So do you need to do your temp for a month before you see a pattern then?

I started about a week before ovulation and then I could see a change in temperatures. You can take temperature under your tongue, in vagina or up bum. Personally i decided to go for the least intrusive first and see if it was accurate enough to see a pattern - it was!

Temperatures don't really mean anything on their own, it's all about trends. Go by the opk this month. Continue temping throughout the rest of this cycle and into the next and it will be more helpful next time

Re mouth having different temperatures - just make sure you use same part of mouth. Go right under the tongue into the little pockets at the back. Also use the same side. I haven't had a problem

Oh okay I will try that instead! Thanks very much. I'm sure it was yesterday because I was having a bit of cramping and discharge! Sorry for tmi. I have been trying for a second for a while and was trying for first for years so I'm trying to help it along a bit.
