BBT / temping - help please!

I need a temping guru, please.

I've been temping for months but have noticed that my temp seems to vary dramatically within my mouth, at the same time using the same thermometer!! So for example I woke up at my usual 6.00 and popped the thermometer under my tongue and got 35.6, but took it again as that seemed anomalously low, and got 37.1...which seemed nuts also, so took it again and got 36.5....so took it another ten times and it jumped up and down and up and down like that. It's now 6.30, and I've not left my bed yet...but no idea what to record!
It's a Braun digital thermometer so I would have thought it's not that...but now it's making me doubt all my previous temps...

Can anyone offer any advice? I've googled it to death but all the temping advice is about when and where to take it, not about this kind of thing. 😕 thanks

How frustrating!

Firstly even the best thermometer needs its batteries changing sometimes - could it be that?

Secondly, could it be in a different part of your mouth? Mine have got more reliable since I've learned to recognise a spot just to the left of my tongue and shove it right in!

Thirdly if none of that helps then would you consider temping vaginally? Apparently it's more accurate

Thank you. I think the ideal of switching next cycle to taking it vaginally is a good one. Don't think this is our month, so will give that a go when the time comes.

Definitely swap to vaginal next month but sounds like it's not a bbt thermometer? It should be to two decimal places...

You're right; it's not a specific bbt thermometer but just a good quality digital one. I have bought one now that does do two decimal places and I'll start doing it vaginally from next month. Just angry at myself for wasting another month. 😖😖

Ahh don't be daft! It takes a while to get the hang of it!

A little tip if you have a fitbit...set a silent alarm for like 5am then you can be consistent with taking your temperature and then go back to sleep afterwards.
