Transvaginal scan

GP sending me for one!! Pretty nervous, not got around to having the smear so never had anything like this before...

Main question is, as my periods are so irregular I don't know if I will be on or not when it comes to having the scan. It says they want to do a normal ultrasound and the internal one too, but if cannot go ahead with the transvaginal scan tell them on the day. Presumably they would rebook me for after my period was over?

I've had an internal scan on my period, the scanner is like a long thin wand, but only a little bit of it goes in. Don't worry I find people touching me a big problem but this scan isn't so bad. You will need partially full bladder for external and empty for internal usually. Hope all ok!

I had an internal scan last month and I was relieved as it was so much easier than I thought it would be. I had a sheet covering me and the technician passed me the wand under the sheet and I guided it. She then moved it around a bit to see what she needed to see. I was at the end of my period and she said it was fine as they compare the measurements to what they should be on that specific cycle day.

I had one recently and they confirmed they would be able to do it regardless of whether I was on my period or not. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, again, I was also covered and guided the wand.

I've had several, both when pregnant and not. The thought of it is so much worse than the reality! Not painful, just a bit uncomfortable at worst.

Please do get round to a cervical smear, it may just have saved my life.
