Hello, i'm new on TTC journey!! So please excuse me if this is obvious...

Irregular periods after coming off the pill Dec 2015. Now interested in TTC, went to see GP after 4 months no period, GP sent for blood test. Period came on day of blood test!

Went back to GP, results came back normal, now being sent for another 21 day progesterone blood test (and a scan that i am waiting to hear back for date) she's asked for me to go for on day 21 of my cycle, (31/08/17 being day 1) so told me to go on 21st.

I understand that it is a check to make sure you have ovulated and would be done on day 21 of my cycle, but where I have irregular periods so would find it difficult to know when my next one would be... & it's now day 10 and I am still bleeding, is 21st still going to be the suitable day for me to go for the blood test?

The test should be done 7 days before your period and should only be done on day 21 is you have a 28 day cycle so if you was to have a 30 day cycle you would go for your bloods on cycle day 23

I've had day 21 bloods done this month and last. After timing it badly last month my gp suggested aiming for 7dpo this month. I used opks to figure my ovulation date out, then as soon as I knew that I booked the test. As Holzy said, it's only day 21 if you have a perfect cycle ... which most people don't! I hope your cycle settles down - that must be really frustrating. Good that your doc is doing tests etc. x

No harm in going for test as planned. If it doesn't work they'll prob advise another anyway. Maybe you should temp or use opk to get a better picture of what your body is up to? I've heard agnus castus is good for regulating cycles - might be worth looking into? Good luck!
