EWCM but no positive OPK?

I started using cheapie OPKs last month and some nice people here helped me ID a positive on CD14 of a 27 day cycle (26-28 is normal for me).

This cycle I'm CD15 and OPKs are so faint, definitely negative. Lots of EWCM. Bit confused.

What have fellow TTCers experienced with their EWCM and positive OPKs? Bit worried I'm not ovulating this cycle, but then would I have EWCM?

Thank you for any advice Smile

Hi chevre, EWCM is generally a pretty good sign for ov, OPKs can be more hit & miss in my experience. You need to find the right time of day for them, guidelines said 10-8pm so I was going for 2pm, but never really getting anything - turns out 1st thing in the morning is reqd for me to get any result. Also bit the bullet & got Clearblue a couple of months ago, can recommend. I've seen in lots of places 'test after your longest sleep' as actually works better when a bit dehydrated, will be more concentrated. HTH..

Thanks Schnapps that is really helpful. I've been doing them around 6/7pm but thinking back my positive last month was on a WFH day at around 11am, so I'm going to experiment with earlier in the day. Will continue to DTD regardless and look at getting some Clearblues with the smileys too...

Yep definitely earlier would be better I think, as I understand the LH is mainly produced while you're asleep so you'll likely catch it soonest after you wake. I got the dual fertility sticks rather than the monitor, didn't seem worth the extra £ for a bit more automation. Good luck!

Just an update - did OPK before bed and it was almost there a and then with FMU and it's positive, finally. If I'd stuck to my 6pm testing I might've missed it so many thanks Schnapps! I'll be using FMU as well from now on.

Now to puzzle over why ov is later than last month, although I read the pre-ov phase is the most variable while post-ov is pretty regular. My period was longer than usual this month. See when AF/BFP turns up...

Good news! Post-ov can vary too I'm afraid! Especially if it's rather short to begin with - mine has varied between 8-20 days as far as I can work out! :(
