Hey, basically I had my scan yesterday 5th sept and I was 13+5 . Anyway I looked on a conception calculator and it says I conceived 15th June, and my period was the 1st June. Well I did have sex on the 15th so that could make sense but my period wasn't the 1st June it started on the 20th may? I'm so confused, can anyone help please and thankyou Smile

Do you have regular cycles?? I don't think scans are actually accurate enough to pinpoint when conception took place. Imagine this: not all eggs implant on the same dpo! Not all embryos develop at exactly the same rate in the early days and not all foetuses (foetii?) develop at exactly the same rate. It's probably safe to say it's more like you 'conceived' ie sperm met egg June 13-18. But you can conceive from sex outside that window too.

Congrats!! I wouldn't worry about the exact date - surely the due date is what the do the scan to see anyway, and we all know babies don't usually arrive on the due date either....

Any reason this is so important??

Oh and I forgot to say those online calculators go by 'average 28 day cycles'. If you don't have those there's no way to predict the unpredictable!!

Had you been tracking your cycles? Did you opk or bbt to know when you likely ovulated?

mummybear02 · 07/09/2017 08:17

Hey no I don't have a 28 day cycle, it's more like 34/35 but I'm not 100% sure as I dont track and also I wasn't trying to get pregnant so wasn't tracking when I ovulated either x

If you have a 34/35 day cycle, you most likely ovulated around cd 20... which is about June 10. So going by the scan, you conceived later than that, which means it's impossible to know exactly when!

mummybear02 · 07/09/2017 21:32

So could I of conceived on the 11th? Or do you mean after the 15th?

What I mean is that there is no way to know exactly when you had sex that resulted in conception - unless there is only one possibility? I'd reckon somewhere between June 8th and June 22?? Something like that??

I'm sensing there might be a reason this matters down to the minute? Unfortunately, no way to know!

Best of luck.

Wow really that's a big time frame. Thanks for your help. And yes there is a reason

Scans are of no use whatsoever in determining when you conceived - that's not their purpose. Their purpose is to determine when the foetus/baby is most likely to be born and when it will be fully physically developed. Counting back that way won't help you, I'm afraid.

If you need to know because there is more than one man in the picture during the rough timeframe that you conceived, I'm afraid the only way to know is with a DNA test.

Thanks for your comment. I have booked a prenatal DNA test. So I'm hoping this will give me some answers. But just wanted to ask around in the mean time.

Assuming both men fell roughly in the same window of time during which you were fertile, I'm afraid there's just really no use in dissecting the days and asking for input online. Even if it's more likely one than the other, that doesn't really help you, because it will all come down to one sperm and the actual probability, in your case, that it's a given man is either 1 or 0.

I hope the test gives you some answers, good luck.

mummybear02 · 08/09/2017 11:44

Yes pretty much, but I didn't realise I was ovulating or anything as I don't track my cycles etc. Which doesn't help in the situation. It is more likely to be one of them than the other but it's still a worry at the back of my mind. Only thing is I didnt want to go on with the pregnancy if it's one of them, but it's getting on now and I'm 14 weeks 😞
