I feel so stupid.

My partner and I usually use condoms but as I was still bleeding up until Sunday I thought I wold be ok.

So we had unprotected sex last night. I came on a the monday before yesterday.

I am so sorry for too much information here but this morning I have woken up and my cm is like white jelly and I am sure that means you are fertile? I have also been having pains where my ovaries are.

I know I should know better but please don't tell me that I just need some advice/help.

If it is possible how do I go about getting the MAP? I really could not cope with a baby at all.

are you sure the CM isnt his sperm if you didnt use a condom?

pesme · 03/04/2007 14:17

i thought that kittylette.

there is a possiblity that you will get pregnant but it is unlikely you would have any symtoms as yet as implantation takes about 10 days and odds are you haven't even ovulated yet.

you can get map at most chemists now. be prepared to answer patronising questions abuot how naughty you are!

EasterRampantRAHbit · 03/04/2007 14:20

What is your normal cycle length?

How long do you bleed for?

Do you have any idea when you normally ovulate?

I am not sure about the MAP, but think you can get it in the chemist now.

Plibble · 03/04/2007 14:31

When you are most fertile your cm should be slippery and stretchy between your fingers. The white, thick, sticky stuff is harder for sperm to swim through and is what you would expect to have early on in your cycle and before you ovulate.

Howlikely · 03/04/2007 14:49

I bleed for about a week. My cycle is 27-28 days. Normally 28.

It definitely isn't dp's sperm though.

how on earth do you know it is not his sperm? Thats what happens it sort of jellyfys....

lulumama · 03/04/2007 14:52

if there is any doubt in your mind at all, just go and get the MAP, it is more effective, the sooner you take it

if you do not feel you can cope with another child, then don;t hang about here, go to the chemist or family planning clinic and get the MAP as soon as you can

i wouldn;t bother too much re your mucus, as what is done is done, and if there is a chance this is your fertile time, and you do not want to be pregnant, you need to do something sooner rather than later

Howlikely · 03/04/2007 14:57

G&B ~ yuk!

lulu ~ yeah you are right. I just would rather not take it if I don't have to iykwim

We really need to get this sorted though. Condoms are just not working.

I am a regular btw but had to change incase people I know recognised me

If you bleed for a week then your cycle is:

1-7 days bleeding (7)

Period length (shortest) 27days

LP phase is usually 14 days, but max can be 16days (so will work out on 14 days)

Fertile phase is approx 5 days

27 - 14 = 13 days (approx ovulation)

13 CD is approx ovulation

You are 7days + 2days = 9 CD's

Therefore fertile days are CD 8-13

So you could just be in your fertile stage...as sperm can live for 5 days. I would take the MAP, (I have worked this out on averages, do you know your normal LP length?). Even changing it higher to 16 days which is Max, you would just be in fertile stage. Obviously if your LP length is much shorter then you would be safe.

Hope this all makes sense

Thank you EasterRAH ~ now do I go to my gp or chemist?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 03/04/2007 15:14

you can buy it in the chemist.but if you went to your gp you could also discuss other methods of contraceptive there, so this doesnt happen again

Howlikely · 03/04/2007 15:16

Good idea Scorpio

Just out of interest how much is it from the chemist?

OP posts:
EasterRampantRAHbit · 03/04/2007 15:16

I think you should go to the Chemist they should provide you with MAP... however I would book an appointment soon with GP to get a better form of contraception.

But my only advise is you need to consider what you want in the future, obviously if you want a child in the near future some things are not the best. Hopefully the doctor will discuss it properly with you.. Sorry to go on but hear so many people that can't get pregnant straight away due to some forms of contraception.

scorpio1 · 03/04/2007 15:17

i think its around £20, im not sure.boots do it too i think?

Howlikely · 03/04/2007 15:21

No you are all right it needs sorting.

I have older children so a baby is not what I need right now!

EasterRampantRAHbit · 03/04/2007 15:23

OK, Take Care XX

scorpio1 · 03/04/2007 15:25

hope it goes ok,try and get the MAP today-most effective.

although, you can have a coil put in up to 5 days after sex as a form of emergency contraception-it would be both for you-long term and emergency.worth ringing surgery maybe?if its an option of course.

hope you are ok

Howlikely · 03/04/2007 15:28

Thanks Scorpio. That is actually a good option for me. Was considering having another one put in.

You have all been so kind xxx
