Quick temping question please

Am on CD8 and have had a drop of 0.2 centigrade this morning. I seem to remember from another thread that now is the time to, and I quote, "shag like mad". CD8 seems a bit early. My cycle varies but last month was 26 days (can be up to 32 days).

Is this significant after a week of a steady temperature? Is there anything to look out for pre-ovulation or will temping only really tell me when the egg has flown?!

It is possible that the drop was a ovulation dip, in which case it would be followed by a temp rise tomorrow, but ov-dips are not all that common, and fluctuation in temps can happen for other reasons - length of sleep, alcohol taken, etc. It is the overall bi-phasic pattern that is looked for, and that occurs when ov has already happened eg too late.

So - yes shag like mad today just incase you got lucky with a ov-dip, but it will be another few days before you will know if it was, and you might need to keep shaging for ages yet - enjoy!!!

Hey beansprout - I am on my third month of temping and looking back at my charts I also have a temp drop at around CD7/8 - I have a shortish cycle - usualy 25-26 days and always seem to OV around CD13-14. I think these lower temps could be pre-ov dips but thats a bit of a grey area it seems - I usually try to get busy around CD 8 and ideally would go for it every other day (but thats just because we would never manage every day - too old and despondent after 13 cycles - if you can then I would go for it!).

The only other things to look out for pre ov is CM - I am never very good at spotting EWCM but just know when I have more in general- usually around CD12.
