Very true.. the only reason I took it is because I found a random old mumsnet post where they were all taking aspirin! I asked the GP and he just shrugged and said 'can't hurt I guess'... so I went for it! Luckily Dr S prescribes it as standard to all his ladies...

LunaB · 12/09/2017 20:31

God I'll never forget the little fucker GP who snapped, "its only the second - so what do you want then?" When I told him I'm in the middle of my 2nd consequtive miscarriage! Motherfucker - I've never tried so hard not to cry... didn't want to let that fucker make me cry...

Did I mention he was a fucker lol

PoppyJ1 · 12/09/2017 20:40

Argh, that's horrifying! No one gets how bad it is until it happens, so in a way male docs will never fully understand. Still, means I have a lot of respect for men like Dr S and Professor Conway who specialise in women's stuff.

LunaB · 12/09/2017 20:51

I'd love to turn them all into women doctors tho... I feel v uncomfortable with man doctors

choochooo · 13/09/2017 08:06

Hello all! I'm trying to keep up and understand the lingo :) it's all a bit new!

Following all your progress but I'm wondering if it would be easier on Facebook. How do I join please?

So as I suspected it looks like I'm pregnant again, which means (hopefully if it sticks) I'll be pregnant when I go to see Dr S. argh! I hope he's not annoyed.

LunaB · 13/09/2017 08:26

Choo!!! AMAZING news my love!!! How wonderful - let's pretend nothing bad has ever happened and enjoy the moment :))

When is your appointment again??

We try and keep the proper medical stuff on here, so newbies can find useful info - and Facebook for sillier and more personal stuff-
If you send your email address to Seeking, she can add you 💓

choochooo · 13/09/2017 08:40

It's in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping this sticks but it will be nice to have some support. I'm hoping mw will let me have early reassurance scan this time. I usually lose at around 7 weeks.

JustLa · 13/09/2017 09:10

Poppy, glad AF is behaving for you! Gaining a day is always nice 😊

No matter how hard you try, the age thing is always niggling away! I keep regretting not moving faster between mc, but I may have broken myself if pushed too fast. 35 is nothing sweetie, I aimed for 33 being the perfect age to get pg (missed it by a few years haha) but you are only a couple of years over that! Still within 'perfect' range imo xxx Hope the new drops help too

Choochoo omg!!! Pg, congrats!!
Yes jump onto fb, there is always a lot happening in there but hopefully it's easier to look at the different threads we have.
We also post scan pics, ovu test pics, etc which is great. You can tell them you've been having some pains and concerns (which won't be a lie) and that you would like a scan at the early pregnancy unit at local hospital. Once you've got in there and befriended the sonographers, you can ask to book again for 2 weeks after 1st scan, and continue rebooking every time you go in. I found letting the sonographers know how distraught I was about the whole thing helped them to want to support me. They've been fab (I have my last one with her tomorrow at 15+5 which is way past early pregnancy time!)
Xx

Luna, great idea on keeping it real in here, I go off track way too easy which isn't helpful for newcomers 😖 x

LunaB · 13/09/2017 13:01

No way Just - the banter is the best bit! Was just trying to show that we try to copy the medical stuff here as well as FB to inform newbies! We also post porn, sex talk etc. 😝😝

LunaB · 13/09/2017 13:02

Fingers crossed Choo - and he will of course support you and so with your EPU - and so will we 💓

PoppyJ1 · 13/09/2017 15:36

Congrats Choo! A few people on this thread and related previous ones have been have got to Dr S pregnant and they've turned out fine. All the best with out!

Thanks JustLa, for the reassurance boost. My instinct is that it's all fine age wise and the more I hear that more confident about that! I'd feel blessed with one and over the moon with too I got there so I think it's totally toable even without the mad rush rush! I'm seeing so many women breezing late thirties and into their forties I really should give myself a break!x

LunaB · 13/09/2017 15:54

Hear hear pops

choochooo · 13/09/2017 19:47

Thanks guys ❤️

Please don't worry about age, I've had so many consultants tell me this scaremongering over age is ridiculous. I know plenty of first time mums in their 40s

SophS88 · 13/09/2017 20:04

One more this from my visit to the clinic today...
Did anyone read my post on mums net re sperm medication? If you did Dr S today said that husbands are only meant to be on ONE of the two drugs. He slightly favours the fertisilan. The bit of paper he gives does not say just pick one! I did point that out and he said he's sure the midwife should have told me... it was actually him who gave me the card but was obvs too scared to say!! Sooooo I'm hoping we haven't fried the current sperm!! For anyone who's bought the fertisilan he said to get the strongest strength... I could only see one strength in the site but he was armament there were several. Xxx Dr Soph the sperm doctor isn't so knowledgeable after all x

LunaB · 13/09/2017 20:36

Choo, when you coming over to Facebook? Xxx

harrietm87 · 13/09/2017 20:44

choo congratulations! This is great news!!! Hope you can relax and not worry (I know so much easier said than done) before you see Mr S. hopefully this is the start of a bfp run as well!

Seekingmiracles · 14/09/2017 08:08

Congrats Choo!! That's amazing!! So you got preg between appointments?? That happened to me. And I was already pg this time before seeing DrS.
Have you got any meds to start you off?
Def get an early scan if you can. Generally EPU are very sympathetic. I'm sure you'll be able to get a reassurance scan if you want one. I've sent the invite link so we'll see you over on FB soon

karryk · 14/09/2017 08:27

Hello ladies :)

It's been a while since I was here so don't recognise any of the names but thought I'd pop by to offer support.

My story is probably more for those who try Dr S and it doesn't work for any reason. I had two mmc and a chemical pregnancy. One of those mmc was on the steroid programme. Unfortunately I had quite a reaction to the tablets and took the decision to discontinue the treatment and just let whatever happened, happen. To my delight, a few months after the erpc last summer, I was pregnant and a couple of dramas aside, I had a lovely baby girl in July. Just a month past my 40th birthday too (to give hope to anyone thinking they're running out of time).

I hope that one way or another you all get your little bubs, safe and sound. I'll never forget the emotions we went through while trying and maybe our happy beginning gives others hope.

Much love...do DM me if you have any questions, I do pop back to check those.

Best wishes Flowers xx

LunaB · 14/09/2017 08:43

@karryk I would say that post is just what some of us need!! @Take4 hope this cheers you up a bit today - I really think we need to chill a bit more and know we are doing all we can!

karry, what a lovely story and I'm so pleased for you and your wondefyl rainbow 🌈 this story has cheered me up so much!

I too have a bad reaction to the Pred so at some point I would need to evaluate the pros and cons xxxx

Take4 · 14/09/2017 08:58

Thanks @karryk for your post, perfect timing and @LunaB for tagging me! I got a BFN today after my second round of pred with Dr S and the anxiety around my age - 43 - has kicked in horrendously. So your post and your wonderful, happy ending has helped and made me smile.

To everyone on this tumultuous journey I salute you! ❤️

LunaB · 14/09/2017 09:17

❤️😌 Take xxx

PoppyJ1 · 14/09/2017 09:44

Thank you @karryk for updating us with your marvellous success story! Cheers to your lovely little girl x

JustLa · 14/09/2017 21:22

Fab story @karryk, thanks for sharing 😊
Out of interest, did you take any additional drugs or therapy to get your gorgeous rainbow girl?

Take4 ❤️ Everything I go to type sounds like an annoying cliche, but I really feel this is going to work for you... it may take a few goes but will be so worth it I'm sure. I know that's really easy to say.
By the way, interesting observation with regards to age- when I graduated to the 'normal' pregnancy area of the hospital, I was totally people watching, looking at bumps and faces of other mums-to-be. There were so many over 40's there, I would say 15-20% were, it was great!

@LunaB, how is boink fest going? Avoiding the dreaded UTI's?!

Xx

LunaB · 14/09/2017 21:37

Ha Just, am tucked up in bed after my evening boink 😝 - still can't help lying with legs in the air after, but not for long and straight for a pee after!

CM is now egg-whitey, still flashy face, but I hope that tomorrow/Sat I'll get static face and then I'll be asking you guys the standard question: "when the fuck shall I take the Pred!" Lol

PoppyJ1 · 14/09/2017 22:19

LunaB glad you're getting some relaxation in and patiently (yeah right) awaiting the solid smiley of joy 😂

Hope you're feeling a bit more positive now, Take4. We all salute you too 😘

Sitting on the runway with DP waiting to fly from Australia. I will be the one posting updates at weird times of the night for the next couple of weeks 👍Love to all x
