Anyone having weekly hcg injections to try to prevent another miscarriage?

I posted on the miscarriage board but haven't had a response so thought I'd ask here. I'm spotting & I suspect I'm starting my 4th miscarriage. I am wondering if the hcg injection will prolong an inevitable miscarriage. I would like to hear from others who have been advised to have these weekly injections by the recurrent miscarriage clinic. I had my first injection yesterday after a faint positive test on a frer. I am cramping & spotting.

Presumably you also can't have a blood test because the injections will keep the hormones high regardless of what's happening? That's what I'd really like (blood tests in the first week or two) in my next pregnancy, though I'm not sure whether or not I'll get it.

Yes I assume so. I have left a message with the consultant's secretary, asking for a telephone call.

I'm in & out of meetings all day but really don't want to miss their call. Still spotting (red) & having period style cramps. If it's going to come out I wish it would crack on

They didn't call me back

Really sorry to hear that - hopefully they'll call tomorrow. When would your period normally be due?

Anytime now.

@Greenglassteacup can I ask what the outcome of this was?? I am currently having HCG injection (first one was earlier in the week). I also like yourself have had miscarriages (first one was a MMC)

Thanks x

This was a long time ago and it was a shock to receive an email from mumsnet telling me that this my username was mentioned with reference to this thread.

The outcome was a termination for medical reasons in the second trimester because the baby was not going to be ok. I have been unable to have a successful pregnancy after having my daughter over 8 years ago.

Asking “what was the outcome of this??” with the double question marks isn’t great really

Sorry for seeking out advice whilst going through a similar experience that someone like yourself has. I came across your post which YOU originally posted. I apologise if I offended you. A double question mark being a mere typo. It's shame that on posts like this people can't be supportive of one another especially when we have such similar experiences.

Greenglassteacup · 16/09/2019 06:06

It’s a shame that you have no insight. Good luck

@Greenglassteacup - I'm sorry you had that experience. It must have been really difficult for you to go through it. I know it's shit when someone digs up an old thread that had such a sad outcome, but I don't think any malice was intended. And it wasn't possible to know that you'd have to tfmr based on what was previously written.

It's an unusual situation, having hcg supplemented, and I think the new poster was just trying to find solidarity. I'm sorry this drags up some inevitably shot memories for you, but I honestly don't think she could have possibly known... how could she have had insight?

MrsH2618 · 16/09/2019 08:03

@physicskate thank you for you support.

As someone who has has 3 miscarriages myself I was just looking for some support from someone who has been through a similar experience.

I like you said, had no idea the outcome and couldn't have possibly known.

Again I apologies if this has caused any friction or hurt towards anyone. I will seek advice from somewhere else.

Hello @MrsH2618 - I’m also having HCG injections. I understand why you posted on the original thread. It’s so so difficult to find anyone having these injections during pregnancy. I have tried to PM you but I am unable to. Would you mind if I asked about your experience?

MrsH2618 · 28/04/2022 22:21

Of course. I think I’ve managed to PM you on here.
Hopefully you’ve received it.

@MrsH2618 and @Hobnob86 I’ve been taking HCG injections since I found out I was pregnant again 2 weeks ago. I get my first scan at 6/7weeks next week.
can I ask how you two found using the injections please?
